    Bruin Negotiations

TSN is saying that progress is being made by the Bruins, in contract negotiations with; Patrice Bergeron, Tuukka Rask, and...Nathan Horton.

They also mentioned that (sit down Stanley), Rich Peverley will be moved, in order to sign Horton. They did not say how he would be moved.

Peverley will probably be bought out, i don't see another team picking up the last two years of his contract after the season he just had....

PC announced there would be no buyouts in Boston. Take it for what it's worth.

Don't be surprised if Peverly is traded on Sunday... draft pick is my guess... He might not have had a great year, but he was pretty good pickup for the B's on their Cup run and contributed.
He is just out of place here now, and a change of scenery will do him good... I think he is a good player who has lost confidence...  If your resigning Horton, which I hope the B's do, then they can't bring any salary back..so draft pic seems good possibility...

    Re: Bruin Negotiations

Don't think Peverley needs to be bought out.  As frustrated as B's fans have been with him, he is a decent player with some value.

From 2008-09 to 2011-12, he played 287 games and had 182 points.  Paced over an 82 game season, that's 19-33-52.

He is an elite face-off man.  Last 3 seasons; 58.4%, 61.1% & 58.3%.  With puck posession teams having so much recent success, thinking there are plenty of teams that covet those FO%.

Versatile.  Can play all forward spots, good on the PK and can play on the PP as well.

His value is low and has a limited NTC, but could easilly see him moved.  Likely doesn't bring a big return, but a mid-round draft pick seems reasonable.

That's how I read the situation too Crowls.

As much as Peverly had a disappointing season he will still be a desirable player at his cap hit and abilities. He might get an expanded role on another team which might light a fire under him, who knows.  He can bring a seasoned locker room presence to a younger team and he has been on a Cup winner. As has been stated, he likely won't bring back much but some team will take him.

Peverly was such a big part of the Cup run that it seems there was only one way for his play to go, and that was downward.  As Crowls says, his versatility makes him valuable.

I do believe him Hang but it could also just be posturing so as not to negate any trade value Peverley might have.

Feel for the guy, he really is better than he played than he performed this past season. Time to go though and I think he bounces back as well.

If the Rangers were able to find someone to take Gomez and that contract, I don't see why Chiarelli should have trouble trading Peverley.

I know he seemed to regress this year, but I think the Bruins will miss his versatility

I always admired in years past, his fearlessness in driving to the net at full speed. He just didn't do it, at all this year.

I agree fully on this, and scored on a lot of those chances. I would watch Seguin try and stickhandle through the middle of the offensive zone or skate wide and take a long shot at the goal and wonder, why don't you skate wide and drive the net like Peverley does as Tyler definitely has the speed but to no avail. Wonder why Peverley got away from that as it sure worked for him.

Huge mistake to do anything with Peverly or Kelly until Rask has a deal and Horton has been resolved. I know that sounds obvious, but let's not get ahead if ourselves. If Horton goes, they'll need the bodies. If he stays, then the trade for pick idea makes good sense.

    Re: Bruin Negotiations

Yes, Peverley underperformed this year but he's still a good player.

He's a good center and would be a second line center on some teams. Good on the face off, good on the PK, good speed and good defensively.

$3 million per isn't an untradeable contract.
