Hope these missed PP oppurtunities don't come back to haunt us. I'll give Holtby credit so far, he is seeing the puck very well. Keep putting pressure on him with bodies in front, first goal will crack the wall. -

Gotta get to Holtby soon, the longer this goes on the more his confidence grows. Almost a bend-don't break here for the Caps. I hate these games, next thing you know here come the Caps on an odd man rush. Just get one, then they'll come in bunches. -

True, kel. Conversely it will be deflating to the Bruins should the Caps get the lead despite their efforts. I'm with you on the score first/open floodgates notion. -

Let's be clear about Holtby so far. He has done well facing a more than average amount of low percentage perimeter shots. Thomas has had more difficult saves than the young lad so far even though he has faced less shots. It is the Caps D that is doing a good job forcing the B's to the perimeter. Yes he is doing well but he is not stealing anything. The B's need to fight their way through Wash's D and attack the puck more. -

Not a bad first game, but indeed not enough real good scoring chances.
But the Caps doesn't look too frightening...hell, they are soft.... -

Holtby finally lets in a perimeter shot while Wideman struggles to get back into the play. Caps need to show more than they have so far if they want to avoid being swept.
Bruins are only going to get stronger which is a good thing. Good for Kelly, looks like he just upped his future contract payoff. -

dez - Holtby's heroics couldn't save them in the end. Mind you, what does his play say about the team in front of him? They were overmatched by the Bruins and only his performance kept the game close - on the scoreboard. -

i gotta feeling the caps are scratching their heads, "we just played the best game we can play against them, nothing". only 16 shots, very little sustained pressure, got hit out of the building, and jeeze we're sore. holtby was very good, but thomas was thomas. let them continue to block shots and get outhit over the next game or 2, and see how fast they crumble. GREAT win, GREAT effort, GREAT start. sooo excited for sat nite. -

Yeah, dez. Doubt Holtby can up his game from tonight. Even if his teammates can the Bruins won't be overwhelmed.
