$9 million with Savard. $13 million if Savard on LTIR.

There is room now for Tuukka and 1 or 2 others.

We heard about the numbers for Rask but does the extension for Bergeron also figure in all this?

    No.

Next year the cap will likely go up about $10million. That should fit in Bergy without dumping more players.

    Rask gets 7-7.5MM.

Alfredsson, Calrk McArthur or Clarkson? 5.5?

Leaves about 1MM for Redden? Khudo?

Next year bump up ... resign Bergie for 8MM (that's up 3MM), Krejci goes to 6-6.5.

    Love Flutos tweet:

Yeah, terrific.....JJ can save some money, Rask and a backup goalie can now be signed.....now about getting a top 6 winger.......hmmm

Players only go on LTIR during the season once the team has exceeded the cap, and then they only get enough relief to exactly cover the overage.

“The Bruins will spend to the cap,” owner Jeremy Jacobs said during a press conference at TD Garden. “The Bruins are going to spend to the cap.”

Jacobs has given GM Peter Chiarelli the green light to use a long-term injury exception on Marc Savard if the Bruins aim to exceed the cap by his average annual value."

The LTIR doesn't have to be used until the start of the season if need be.

I like Clarkson, but as a free agent, some else will overpay to sign him.

Technically, "spend to the cap" does not say to me to use Savard's LTIR but you never know.

Only about 10 differnt hockey media outlets have mentioned that JJ has said Savard's LTIR will be used if need be. If you don't want to belive it then don't.

Starting to get the feeling some fans are wanting Chiarelli to fail now because a popular player has been traded. Then they can release their venom on the Bruins.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. As you point out, JJ has given the green light to use it and that is on me for not recognizing it....fair game, lazy on my part.

So 13 million.  7 for rask.  clarkson wants 6.   I love love clarkson for a long time.  Hes not worth 6 million.  There are some decent pieces available.  Id rather trade to bring in that top 6 we need bc the picking is very slim on overpay.com.

    who said Tuukka's getting 9mil.?....

did you find it a joke when he was holding the Penguins to two goals in a four game sweep?....

yeah, let's go back to the Baron Dafoe days....

Tuukka's an elite goalie and should be paid like one....

Re: B's now have $13 million in cap space

Rask will get his $7M. MAYBE they can get away with $6M this coming year and then have it bump up knowing the cap will go up. No doubt the average of $7M is agreeable to all sides and the negotiation is more about length of term and how it's divided up.

For the $6M remaining, the Bs could land a Top 6 RW and backup goalie easy.
