BUFFALO READY TO WHEEL AND DEAL??

According to a article on TSN  Buffalo is open to a offer on any player. Why not make an offer on Thomas Vanak who is 29 and has 16 goals in 29 games and is a very skilled goal scorer as the Bruins have learned on more than one occasion. THis is the time to act and do it A.S.A.P. Acquiering him would certainly shake the  Bruins out of their doldrums. It wasn't until after the ten minute mark of the trhird period that any of the Bruins 4 centers were credited with a shot on net.

This is great... but Buffalo would not send a player of Vanek's caliber to an inner-division rival unless we gave them the moon.   Boston is one of the team's they need to leapfrog for next year and beyond.

Paille's move to Boston marked the first ever trade of a player under contract between the two division rivals in their common 39 years in the NHL.[2]

    In short, not gonna happen.

Well, Id rather part w/ the moon for Vanek than part w the moon for Clowe.

You are probably correct.  Its not like another team wouldnt put together a quality package.

He also has a cap hit of 7.2 next season.  Not saying that would be an absolute dealbreaker, but it is noteworthy.

Its VERY noteworthy Drewski - i would love Vanek - he is a borderline elite NHL player..B's only have a little over 7 mil in cap space for next year and only have 17 players signed... they will have to dump/trade some contracts for this to happen...

The bruins for starters can offer Peverly,Bartkowsky,Kelly and a number one draft pick this year plus second round draft picks in 2014 and 2015 for Vanak and Pominville.  See what their reaction is and if necessary tweek the deal with some extra higher round draft picks. They can always put Spooner between these 2 to make up a new line., The problem with  Boston is that they are locked into this 2011 cup group and the players knowing it have a  comfort Zone and it shows in how they play. Hence like last night they played really hard for 10 minutes or so at the end of the game. BUT HOCKEY IS A 60 MINUTE GAME.

There is no way Vanek would ever be dealt to the Bruins. Ottawa is the only team I think the Bs would trade with this year but they're doing too well to be sellers.

You may be right but you never know until you try and the way Buffalo looked last night not even getting a goal they just might be willing to deal with the Bruins.

trading within the division is unlikely.

TRYING is worth it as all you lose is a few minutes or so of time. Its certainly just as  productive  as  getting dumped around by Calgary or making a waiver claim for a guy whose only goal of the year was scored against you.  Since that claim nothing out of B's management other than its harder this year than last year to make a deal. WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH THE TOUGH GET GOING. Its time the B's management proves to be tough.

it's extremely rare that a deal that falls through goes public.

for all you or I know the Bruins might have tried to make 50 deals since breakfast.

Further, look around the league, not one deal since the Leopold thing - not one.

Not even some 7th defenseman or other utility guy in the whole league.

Add savards ltir of 4 brings it to 11m in cap space, the only real notable gone is horton, so adding vanek is realistic money wise there and signing rask , probably not in the sabres best interest to trade him to the Bs. The Bs also can replace the 3 remaining players needed on the roster with entry level contracts in providence, such as krug, spooner and svedberg. The Bs are relatively a young team, a slight rebuild of this isnt always a bad thing.

THe B's owner comes from the BUffalo area and I am sure he knows the Saber's owner(who bought the club only 2 or 3 years ago) and maybe, just maybe the 2 of them can work things out with the assistance of their GM's. This is a golden opportunity and should be persued as the alternatives are not very encouraging. Dallas has  Yagr(42 years old) and Ray Whitney(40 years old and  just may want to do something,Washington has Ribeiro a very decent player who remains a goal scorer and   may do something with him as they are out of it this year, then there is Clowe(with no goals this year) with San Jose and so it goes.  But to think of watching Caron contributing little or nothing to the offense  for much longer would alone  make management work triple overtime to at least move him somewhere for a  more productive player.

I couldnt agree more short, if theres a chance at vanek nows the time, but highly doubtful. The bruins have not addressed there power play in the last 3 years, ( you cant count kaberle lol ) and imo the pp is gonna be a key in these playoffs this year.

Re: BUFFALO READY TO WHEEL AND DEAL??

Sorry guys, there is no way you can fit Vanek without blowing up the team. While it looks like you have the cap space, Seguin, Lucic, and several others (Rask) are going to see a salary bump nexy year and the Bs have about ~$5-6 million to replace Ference and Horton.

I think the kind of trade you'll see is a middle 6 player but more likely a bottom 6 forward and a bottom 4 D man.

If the Bs had cap space next year, I'd be more positive but they don't have much room to add a franchise guy.

To be honest, I don't think we would have seen Iginla back if we traded for him. Supposedly his contract demands were very high (prob in the $6-7 area).

I'm pretty sure PC is a better GM than Jacobs.

Just came across the wire .. Sabres have asked Jason Pommenvile for a list of 8 teams he would not want to be traded to...weird as it may seem.. This guy would be awesome pickup for the B's and solve a bunch of problems...

Re: BUFFALO READY TO WHEEL AND DEAL??

You are all right on the money with what you say. However the B's have less than 2 days to come up with a deal or 2 or 3 that will give them a good shot at getting beyond the first or second round. To do that they have to be bold and different in their approach as  the 2 players moved earlier today by other teams were lower level and not what the B's need.   It is now on TSN that Buffalo's management has  asked captain Jason Pominville to submit a list of 8 teams to which he does not want to be traded. So things are heating up with the Sabers. He is to submit that list either tonight or tomorrow morning. Stay tuned as we shall see where this leads and if the Bruins can get a piece of the pie.
