Can we say no more trade threads with the Flames?

Let's not start threads about getting Iginla or Reghr. It's just "e-harmony"

He (Jay Feaster ) has the authority to do what he feels is necessary for the betterment of the team. What that means to him, Feaster says, is to be "good stewards" and not to trade core players such as Jarome Iginla, Robyn Regehr, Mark Giordano, Jay Bouwmeester and Miikka Kiprusoff.

No way. This is what we come to the board for. Problem is not the trades, but the lack of understanding in making them. If the CAP isn't taken into consideration, then it isn't going to work. And sending them your garbage for their Star isn't going to work either.
I'd take Iggy in a heart beat, but a lot of Cap room has to be cleared.

Always ask yourself one question. Why would the other team want to do this deal.

Not to mention that they've won 5 in a row and are 2 points out of a playoff spot. They're more likely to be buyers than sellers at this point. Things could change but for now, ain't nuttin happenin.

Hmm, if Rene Bourque isn't a core player... maybe tossing out a tidbit for him? He's been putting up pretty good numbers for someone playing without a legit center.

Re: Can we say no more trade threads with the Flames?

Thank you Legion!  Let the trade threads rest...

Like many 'seller' teams, the Flames will want draft picks, young prospects, and salary relief.  The Bruins only really have one of those things to offer.  As such trade talk should probably be about smaller pieces (winger with speed, another d-man maybe).  To get a franchise player, we'd have to give up a franchise player, and first place teams don't do that.

i agree with Fletch.  this team is starting to form an identity.  lets give them a few weeks and then we can judge if anything is needed.  As mentioned above they are in first place, a major move is unlikely, especially with their cap situation.

Re: Can we say no more trade threads with the Flames?

The bruins have enough depth to bring up appropriate replacements. Hamill is ready to fill in for Savard. That allows Wheeler to play on 4th line with Campbell and Paille adds speed and more skill. Thornton sits as very few staged fights from here on. Better for Seguin to play with a more experienced, but still young[22] center and Hamill's passing could create some offense from Ryder and Seguin. Only trade IMO is to move Boychuck.

B&G no way !  only because this is another player that has a concussion or two and Bruins cannot have another in their lineup.

Bourque is terribly streaky too.  Like Horton, but with less talent I think.

They were talking about him on HNIC radio the other day and were saying that a former coach (can't recall who) said that Bourque needed to be constantly motivated, in every practice, to play hard.  He said Bourque was one of the most frustrating players he'd ever coached.  Tons of talent, no drive.

Hamill isn't ready to be Savard's replacement.  I'm not sure if he's ready to be anyone's replacement.

Re: Can we say no more trade threads with the Flames?

Hmm, i thought he had less time on his contract. With a year or even just a few months left on the contract he might be a great rental.
