I know how you feel.  It might drop down into the 50's here before midnight.

Oh, wait.  Is that a minus sign in yours?

My kids have a 2 hour delay for school already decided because it will be 12F in the morning.  I used to walk half an hour to class in weather like that; not uphill both ways, though.

I was one of the first snowboarders up here. Back in the early 90's when the skiers hated us. Now, the mountains cater to us. Dont go as much now, but it is much funner than skiing.

If the snow is fresh powder I snowboard, if it is packed I Ski. Skiing down a mountain as fast as I can still makes me feels great! I just don't imagine Jim McKay's voice in my head...ever!

It's a bad name - you honestly think severe weather that is setting cold records across the continent may just maybe be linked to climate change? Just going out on a limb here.

Global warming is one of the biggest myths in history.  Al Gore stacked his legacy on it.  And thus ended his positive legacy.  It's a joke.  No, the humans aren't destroying the Earth.  "But NAS, the polar ice caps are melting".  How did they get there?  Were they water first?  Who caused the Earth to freeze billions of years ago?

    Damn dinosaurs.

    I love the cold.

It's refreshing, the outdoor rinks are outstanding, gets me in the mood to watch hockey and you don't smell other people's b.o. like in hot weather when they pass by you.

    Denial is hilarious!

Since were discussing myths. Keep watching that echo chamber.

The only place I would live south of the mason dixon line would be the Florida Keys.  Frigid weather comes and goes with the sun flares/global warming or whatever.  California is a country I would not like to live.  I will take Canada over the AC living for 6 months anyday.  Four season living! NH is mighty fine except not enough hockey!

    Re: Canadamageddon!

I'm not old enough to remember it, but there's a prof from Stanford (still there) who in 1968 caused great alarm and outcry about the rate of population growth and it's pending ruination of the planet and the subsequent disasterous effect it would have on humans. The result would be just what he observed in the butterfly colonies he studied. Overpopulation led to a bad situation which caused a drastic reduction in the population. He projected that this would happen to the human race within decades. An economist disagreed. He believed humans would adapt, find alternatives to dwindling resources, adapt to situations, etc. A wager was made that was based on price of a number of the resources (oil, gas, etc.) that the prof claimed would become strained because of high demand from the growing population and therefor prices would rise dramatically. The time frame was more than 10 years I think. The economist won. Prices (adjusted for inflation), actually went down in most cases despite the population boom.

The prof however, won in my book. He got the attention he sought, benefitted financially, and his theory became one of the biggest driving forces that the environmental movemnet was based on. It didn't mater that his theory was wrong.

Guess where Al "the fraud" Gore got his idea for an inconvenient truth? Same method, same result. People are dumb.

"The year without a summer" would make Gore a hero, except it happened in 1819.  London smokestack lightining, would probably be his reply.  Solar flares is the answer.  Most of the oxygen we breath comes diatoms.

    Re: Canadamageddon!

Good discussion. For my three cents:

Earth doesn't need saving. We need to save ourselves.

Earth will take care of itself - always does.

Earth was here for millions of years before we came along, and will be around for millions more years after the last human is gone.
