Controversy follows NHL referee Stephane Auger even when retiring

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/globe-on-hockey/nhl-referee-stephane-auger-retires/article4268270/

"Auger was no stranger to controversy during his NHL career. There was that thing with Alex Burrows. And that thing with Shane Doan. Islanders coach Jack Capuano wasn’t a fan. Auger retires having reffed 739 regular-season games and 10 playoff contests. (Fun fact: the NHL chooses what it considers the best refs to work the playoffs.)"

I'm assume if Auger was forced out then part of the severance, if he received one, is to keep his yapper shut. 10 playoff games selections after 739 games is terrible and if he wasn't paid well during his ousting then I would expect a guy that has had controversy to eventually speak up.
