Does Julien survive a Game 7 loss?

Was talking to one of my buddies after the game and this came up. Tough question, but a fair question.

I'm going with no. If they werent up 3-1 at one point, my answer may be different, but to lose a series in this fashion may be the nail in the coffin. If they win, then I think he is safe regardless of what happens going forward, barring a 3-0 series lead collapse.

No chance any of the coaching staff comes back, in my opinion.

I think Julien is safe. Can't say the same about the rest, especially Ward.

He shouldn't survive if they lose.  Another collapse and this time against an inexperienced opponent, should seal his fate.

If they win this series and they lose in round 2 then he will keep his job and because of the Cup I am okay in that case with him getting one more chance.

Julien is under contract though. The main problem is we don't know how much the B's invested in him. It might be enough to dissaude Jacobs from any notions of firing him.

I'm not saying what I WANT to happen. I'm just stating what I believe WILL happen.

Also, isn't NAS being sarcastic? I can't remember the last time he wasn't.

i think he does survive partially due to his contract but he would be on thin ice especially if they start slow next season,  it is a fair question to ask though if they bow out in the first round 2 years in a row in similar fashion

I think he will survive due to the fact it was such a screwed up season. No training camp, no practice time to fix mistakes, condensed schedule(especially for the B's at the end), i think he'll get next year to show this isn't a "Jeckyll & Hyde" team and if its more of the same he'll be canned, maybe before the year ends.

I think his record in Boston gives him the security blanket for at least another year...

The whole staff should be moved on a loss.

Some should be moved even with a win.

If he mixes up the lines and they lose, then I dont think he should lose his job. But if goes with the same lines as he has done the whole series, then he's done. I dont think any of us are asking for the world when it comes to mixing up the lines. Just a few tweaks. Its been 6 games and we have seen nothing from the 2,3 and 4 lines. Yes bergy has a goal, pevs and so does Paille. But the first line has all our points just about. I just hate having Jagr on that 3rd line. He just does not mix well with Kelly and pevs. Jagr does the same thing with the puck.

Why don't we table this after tonight's game? Really, I don't want to start the post mortem until one is needed. The body is still warm and kicking, so let's focus on the positive, not the un-imaginable.

I agree but as Stan17 said on another Julien thread, "he is Pete's guy". Tonight Claude's reluctant forcheckers bail him out for another round.

Of course CJ comes back no matter the outcome. Bruins will probably win tonight anyway.

Someone's head has to roll in the event of a loss.

I think PC has done a stellar job getting the right parts.

But instead of calling Jacobs for a buyout, PC throws out the pieces he kept in Boston instead. PC puts the blame on players under-performing not the coach. I am not saying I agree but again Chiarelli has moves to make anyways with the cap coming down.

    It is about the players.

    This is not CJ's fault

I don't believe he gets fired this summer although a lengthy slump next season and could spell his demise.

Stanley cup win 2 years agp and is the 2nd most wins coach in Bruins history.  This buys him some time.

4th line has played pretty well imo.

I think this will be Peter's reasoning to keeping him. Also, now that they had to travel on game 7 I think will be part of the reason. I do think though, if there's any sort of slump at all in 2014 he will be gone. A strong start won't or strong Nov, Dec won't save him this time. The last 2 seasons shorten one or not. The B's struggled at the end of the season & never fully recovered. That's shows complacency & bad habits have crept in & not disappearing.

Re: Does Julien survive a Game 7 loss?

He should be fired.  Keep him as a defensive specialist.  If you look at the Rangers and the Red Wings coaching they shuffle players up and down the lines depending on how they are going.  Juliene is so predicatable a robot can coach better.

He hasn't found an answer for Jagr and he hasn't found an answer for the whole second line thus making 2 of the top 3 lines useless.
