It is said that faceoff's are a telltale sign of which team is in the best position to win.  I say, hogwash, don't talk to me about how many faceoff's are being won or who wins them.  The real stat is how many goals are scored by the team winning the faceoff before the other team gains possession of the puck.  Ok, you say, you don't like that stat then how many goals are scored by the team winning the faceoff either during their faceoff possession or their next possession no matter how they achieved that possession.

Mind you, I'm not saying faceoff's are not important but I am saying their importance is very much overrated...

I'll take how many total hits, hits in the team's defensive zone and how many in the team's offensive zone.  It's difficult to specifically measure their short and long term effect on the success or failure of the other team but logic dictates if you get hit over and over your concentration is going to wander from the play while you look to protect yourself.
