Good. Off topic but I am doing research about the impact of the Colorado legalization of pot on the social policy of other jurisdictions. The national news seems to just focus the extremes of the story. As a resident what's your assessment of local social impact (if any) and possible money bonanza for the state in terms of tax windfall? Any quick anecdotal thoughts as a local?

    [/QUOTE]

Yeah, lots of debate on that.  I'll start by saying that I am not a user, although I certainly did at times when I was younger (and am a little curious to try to regulated stuff sometime...).  I voted for it.  Not because I am a big pot guy or even feel that strongly about it one way or the other, but because criminalizing it has been such a spectacular failure  (and an expensive one to boot), and I have a bit of a libertarian streak with some things.  I think you run some risk for sure -- there will be abuses and this undoubtedly makes it even easier for kids to get their hands on it.  But you take a viable market away from gangs and criminals and you channel a hefty tax towards things the state needs (primarily education funding).  From what I understand, the early returns have been very substantial and have also provided funding for drug prevention, counseling and treatment for addicts.  I think it will continue to evolve and some of the edible stuff will be more heavily regulated, as people are over-dosing on that stuff.

Bottom line, I live in a pretty urban neighborhood on the west side of Denver.  You see drugs and crime like any other city.  There are now about 7-8 pot shops within a mile or so of me, but they are replacing other low-rent establishments (porn, pawn, check cashing, etc.).  I haven't seen anything since the legalization to suggest that drugs and crime are now any worse.  There is no frenzy of pot use.  People who didn't use pot before, still don't use pot.  If you didn't hear about it in the news and see the new shops, you wouldn't even know it happened. But the money the state is pulling in is real, and it's all targeted directly to specific causes like education funding (no slush fund for the whim of the day).

I'm not rah-rah on one side or the other like most people.  I am slightly in favor of what has happened, mostly because the previous system of dealing with marijuana was such a broken failure, and the economic benefits of the new system.

After watching Fraser's OT goal a few times, if the shoe was on the other foot, Douglas Murray would be run out of town if he were a Bruin.  Fraser simply pushed him out of the way so that he could get to the puck.  Are they lambasting him up in Montreal?

I thought the same thing hang.  That looked very easy for Fraser.  He and Murray were kind of tied up behind the net.  Fraser lightly pushes Murray away, goes to the net, and taps in the rebound.  No resistance from Murray, no stick tie up.  Nothing, from one of the strongest players in the league.

Hope they keep him in the lineup.

I certainly see both sides on this one, jersey.  My wife voted against.  I wouldn't lose any sleep if it went the other way, but I think that on the balance it is a slightly improved scenario from the one we had.

Haha me too fletch.  In fact, earlier in the broadcast I thought Pierre said Hab fans were skeptical about him.  Now we know why I guess.

No they are not. Therrien came to his defence and right now the Habs coach is as popular and infallible as the Pope.....until they lose the series that is.

I've been reading on HockeyInsideOut.  The consensus seems to be luck caused that goal.  There are a few Murray bashers, but the masses seem to defend him.

Personally, I don't believe in luck. Players miss an open net or hit the post because either they simply did not hit their target or the goalie was in perfect position and left nothing to shoot at. Pucks bounce depending on many physical factors. It goes both ways and no team really has the advantage when it comes to this although it may seem to be the case on occasion.

I generally agree with these thoughts as a whole. The only time luck might enter the discussion is in an OT game and there is a weird bounce off the glass or boards and it goes either directly in the net or right to the stick of an opposing player and he is in perfect position to put the puck in,other than that i think the better team should beat the lucky team on most nights.

I would venture to guess that 75% of goals involve at least a little bit of luck.

Murray did play physical.  I never knew he was born in sweden.

When a game is so tight like that a lucky bounce or wtv is very often the case however bruins forced the play and things hapoen when a team does that.
