Hey all, welcome back to the hockey season.....

hope some of the Boston Locals could give me a few ideas,

I had booked a last miniute trip to Boston for myself for 2 nights, (during of which I got myself a ticket to the Bruins.Devils game in a weeks time. (center ice 7 rows up) always wanted to go, never got the chance to get time of work.

as ive never been any ideas of where i can go...my hotel in accross the street from the Garden. and I heard Sullys is a good place to go for drinks..anything else i can do in the area? decent resturants I can go to? something that a single guy could go out an entertain himself lol..it was spur the moment so was unable to get someone to come with me..i figure on game night, if im in my Bruins gear, then it shouldent be too hard to meet and converse with a few other fans, just no idea what else to do the rest of the time in there...any pre-game festivities?

up for any ideas......GO BRUINS, and GO PATS

thankyou Bad Habitude, if your around Sullys after the game (devils game) ill buy you "a" beer ;) ....

Sullys is more of a local dive bar not the best bar to go meet new people at. The harp and greatest bar are better bars to actually meet people near the garden. If you want to grab a bite before the game try the fours. As for restaurants depend what you are looking for there is so much in that area the north end has a load of nice restaurants and upscale bars.

Sullivan's Tap is a dump and it's gross.  I don't know why people go there or tell others to do the same.  However, if you like overcrowded sausage parties with wall-to-wall deeebags and three inches of you-rine on the bathroom floor, Sullivan's Tap is the place to go. 

Instead, go right next door on Canal to The Four's.  That's where to be.

Can't say as i do NAS, but have been to Sullivans Tap and you pretty much nailed it. Seems to be always packed before B's games though, so some people like it. Can't remember if they have pickled eggs to go with the sausage. :-p

They have that freckled sausage...Also, If I recall I can't remember seeing more people wearing black jeans..I hate black jeans, looks like they were auditioning for a Van Halen video or something.

thanks alot guys for the advice, its looking like sullys is out...i dont want to spend 20$ a beer, but i could spend a couple more dollers to sit in a less grimy bar....ill save to 20$ beers to pay Mr. Jacobs at the game..

Like NAS said the "Fours" is a great place to go before the game, great atmosphere, good food and drinks, lots of memorabilia.

If some fans from Montreal are interested we are going to the March 9 th game against the Flyers..

departure from Montreal Friday March 8th around 2:00pm...we will stay at a hotel in Woburn approx $90 per room 2 double beds ..I have room for 2 Bruins fans we travel in a Ford Escape very comfortable ..so room approx $45 per person, gaz $40 , ticket approx $100 and dinners approx $60..

return to Montreal ..departure from Boston approx 6:30pm arrival downtown Mtl  11:00pm

I have to throw a shout out for one of my favorite Italian Restaurants near TD in the North End. Just a hop skip n jump from the Garden is La Summa and if you get Vitello Parmigiana it's a taste of heaven.

Never been to Harp, how's that place ?

I would second the recommendation for The Fours (if you're older than 22, pass on Sully's), but I only get back there once a year these days.  I always liked the Harp too.

I would usually drink closer to Haymarket and then walk over at game time.

Everyone finally agreed about something on this board and it was the fours

Drink (All within walking distance from TD Garden)

1) The Fours

2) The Harp

3) The Grand Canal

4) Hurricane O'Reillys - Before a game, this is a decent spot to go. They seem to go with a sports bar motif in the earlier hours, but it gets a little night clubby later on.

5) Bell in Hand

Food

1) Mija - Right in Faneuil Hall Area - Great, unique individually served tacos with great margarita/tequila bar - Not exactly hockey style, but worth a shot

2) Limoncello - The most reasonably priced Italian place in the North End

3) Ned Devines - Again in Faneuil Hall Area - Good American style food; burgers, chowdah, etc - Go before 7 though because it is a popular bar and it gets packed

4) Legal Seafood - Can't go wrong with this choice. Menu is 85% seafood, but does have steak, chicken, and salads also

5) Miscellaneous

Fins Sushi, Anything on Charles St in West End, Harvard Gardens is decent and inexpensive, Mike's Pastry/Modern Pastry for good desserts/gelato (Mike's is cash-only)...lots of places within walking distance

6) Take a tour of Sam Adams Brewery or Harpoon Brewery. Sam's is free, but is in Jamaica Plain. Easy enough to get to, but a bit sketchy at night. Harpoon is just past Fort Point in the South End. Also easy to get to and costs just $2. And both give you a few free samples. Something fun to do to kill a few hours.
