    Habs Sign Briere

Well, didn't see this coming. $8m over two years. Looks like Clarkson may be the target now.

$4million for Briere...seems about right. Perfect size for them too.

Funny, considering he shunned the Habs a few years back.

Who do you think we'll sign?  I hear Clarkson's name thrown around more than anyone's here.

s-man, while it's true hockey's a business having him leave the Sens where he's so beloved and has spent his entire career could prove to be a PR disaster.  I'm not a Sens fan but I can't imagine him in another uniform.  Still, who knows?

Your right RHO but if the Sens keep playing around and coming in with a contract that he won't accept anything is possible, but I agree Rich with your assessment. Let me dream lol.

If the reports are true and he wants $6million per season then yes it is a pipe dream. Pc cannot pay that unless he further weakens the bottom six which is the cornerstone to the teams success. And yes, some crazt GM will pay that (or something close to that) for him.

There are other options and it will be very, very interesting to see what PC does here on forward.

Very possible Alfredsson may want to chase a cup RHO. No doubt.

However, many "experts" are suggesting his agent is just driving up his demand on the market so the Sens pay out more. Considering Ottawa has like $23million in cap space this is entirely possible.

Tomorrow is going to be fun....sans the hangover.

I would have loved to see Briere in a Bs uniform but would much rather use Horton's money to get Clarkson or Alfredsson instead.

Will Horton's $4million be enough for either do you think?

Hence the Peverley dump, it will be much more than $4M.

Did you really think Peverley was going to stay ?

By the way Rich is automatically the starting 2nd line starting center and he will flourish. Change of scenary trades my man, change of scenary.

    Ok.

    Rask $7million

    Backup goalie $1 million

that's $8million so $1 million left. Add Savard's LTIR and we are up to $5million and the team needs three things with that money:

    1 top line rwinger

    1 bottom 6 forward

about $1 million in cap space for seasonal moves. All with the remaining $5 million.

    Could be tight.
