If they are not signed by 07/01, are both Kaberle and Ryder gone?

If they are not signed by 07/01, are both Kaberle and Ryder gone?

I was hoping that the B's were going to keep both, if each were willing to take a paycut to stay.  But the closer we get 'til 07/01, I have a stong feeling that both Kaberle and Ryder are gone.

If Eric Brewer is worth almost 16 million over 4 years, then how much is Kaberle worth?

If Alex Tanguay is worth $17.5 million over 5 years, then how much is Ryder worth?

Since the salary cap floor has increased to $48.3 million, some teams (Florida, Colorado, Carolina, Phoenix) have to spend over $16 million this summer just to hit the floor!  If Kaberle/Ryder hit the market, both should match ($4.25 million for Kaberle / $4 million for Ryder) or even EXCEED their current deals.  I would be shocked if PC/Cam would even consider going 3+ years or $4 million/per for either player.

Does anyone think that if are not re-sgned before 07/01, that either will play in Boston next year?

Why would Kaberle take less money to stay in Boston?

I was hoping that he would.  I don't have the link right at hand, but I was pretty sure that either Kablerle or Brian Burke said after he was traded that Boston was either the only team or one of a couple of teams that he would OK a trade to - I also remember reading that he was very loyal and was not interested in moving around.  I believe that he said he wanted to find one team and re-sign long term.

"It just was time to move on," Kaberle told Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos. "(I'm) excited at the chance to go to Boston." Ultimately, Burke found a deal with the only other team Kaberle wanted to play for and the defenceman waived his no-trade clause to join the Bruins in exchange for prospect Joe Colborne, a first-round pick in 2011 and a conditional second-round pick in 2012.

Are the Bruins better off trying to acquire another puck-moving defender and power play specialist on the open market, where costs for a player like Joni Pitkanen will be significantly higher? Or, do they try to leverage a hometown discount with Kaberle who is known for his loyalty and was treated well with the Bruins in his short stint thus far?

I am sure that I could find something else if I looked harder, but I am going to bed.

Kaberle would take less money because he knows he sucks and would like to stay with a winner after so many seasons of misery in TO. but seriously, i can't see him taking less than 3.75M if he did want to stay. I don't feel he earned 4.25 from the bruins next year so he can walk if he wants, though I do hate that we gave up Colbourne and a 1st for a rental, even if he did share the lead for Bruins Dmen in playoff points.

I bet the red wings would love to get kaberle since rafalski retired. I could be wrong but I can't see a team even paying Ryder per year what we did during his last contract. Should be interesting to see how it all unfolds. I am sure PC and Cam have a plan if Ryder or Kaberle leave.

They will both get better offers somewhere else, but know that we will contend for the cup again next year. Chia's probably gonna offer them about half of what they made this year, which means they will walk. I'd like to retain Kaberle, but it will be interesting to see how it pans out. My only concern is that we overpay either of them.

My concern is if we don't sign Kaberle, who else is available?  He is a steady, consistent pmdman when he is on his game.  Once he conquers Claude's system he will be a great asset.  I thought he played well in the finals.  Time after time he got the puck out to the neurtal zone with ease and really helped us win that series.  With Ryder, he once again has proven himself as a true playoff performer.  He didn't score 20 goals ala Leach but he played awesome 2 way hockey and set up some beauties and scored timely goals.....game 4 in Mtl was a tsn turning point....so, with teams having to spend up to the cap floor, these boys won't have to take much of a paycut...I don't see both of them back in Boston next yr...I'm leaning towards Kaberle staying and Ryder getting a decent pay day.

I agree that there will be little else available in the FA Market, but does that justify giving Kaberle a 4 year / $16 million deal?  If the Kaberle of the regular season will be the one who Boston will have for the next four years, then the B's are not going to be pleased. I say that Chia/Cam will make him a three year offer in the 9-10 million range and he will turn it down.  I would not be surprised to see him sign that four year / 16-17 million deal with someone else.

I spoke to someone who knows Kaberle personnaly from TO today and he told me that Kaberle likes it in Boston and he would like to stay. He also told me that Kaberle had trouble adjusting to the Bs system and started to feel much better in the final.
Take it for what it is personnaly I would not give 4M to Kaberle.

IMO Chiarelli is fed up with Ryder's character, and will let him go. Kaberle showed flashes of skill that could be helpful, but at a lower price, and 2/3 years like Ference.

Trickle up is happening for the players Laich 4.5Mil per is a good sign for pending UFAs. Defensman who can pile up assists are a premium the market is set they will get paid as most of us thought.
