No way the B's would ever put Hamilton on the table for Iggy. However, the might be willing to move McQuaid, Caron and a pick for him.

Calgary has got to remember that he will be a UFA and he's 35 uears old...actually giving up McQuaid for him seems to be a high price also, unless they could get a D in a separate trade.

McQuaid? Why do people always want to give up "their" trash for somebody elses "treasure". Quader is worth next to nothing to other teams, and may be only looked at for depth. Maybe worth a 4th rnd pick, if that, or a throw-in in a bigger deal. People need to stop overrating their own players.

Calgary needs both NHL ready talent and players that have a proven resume. If they ever come calling, they will ask for players such as Spooner, Knight, Koko, and Krug. If the GM of Calgary ever traded Iginla in a deal involving McQuaid as "the guy" as center-piece he would be fired on the spot.

Feaster is the same guy that signed O'Reilly to an exorbitant offer sheet only to find out later he could have lost him for nothing as he would have had to pass through waivers and a 1st,2nd and 3rd round pick with nothing to show for it, so i wouldn't be so hasty with the fired on the spot rhetoric. 

How is Mcquaid garbage? He is a beast to fight, he is a serviceable d-man and it was said several times that if we had had Mcquaid in the playoffs last year it would have been a huge boost for our team.

McQ fits into the Bruins system, so no go on that one. Is Krug truly that valuable ? The Bruins have moved similiar college bred guys, good wheels and fair size, in the past. If Krug is NHL ready why is he still in Providence ? sounds like lots of pipe dreams although Chiarelli might think about it, but there are younger quality guys like Perry that would make more sense in a trade.

Khudobin and Second rounder (60th pick ain't much). Might have to make it the First.

Interesting that they're saying a D prospect with top 4 potential.  That's not the Bruins.  Krug might be an NHL defenseman some day, but he'll be a specialist that you probably have to insulate in your third pair.

Short of trading assets no one wants to trade, I don't see how there's a fit if that's what Calgary wants.  They don't want a forward prospect like Spooner or Knight or Khokhlachev; they have a lot of Peverleys with Stempniak and Stajan, so I doubt that's the "roster player" they would jump at, so the only place the Bruins could out-value other teams is by including a first.  And even then, they don't have that first piece, so why bother?

On the other hand, if that's what Calgary really wants, and Chiarelli really wants Iginla, he has gone out and made set-up deals in the past.  It wouldn't surprise me if he made a deal with prospects and picks to acquire a D prospect from a team that has no interest in Iginla and maybe even a young roster player that might be up Calgary's alley.  Say, for the sake of interest, he was able to make a deal with, say, Minnesota - Khokhlachev and Caron for Jonas Brodin and a swap of second round picks.  Then, say he dealt a second and Krug for a decent roster player - someone Calgary might like as a guy who can change their identity - a banger with decent hands.  Then it's Brodin, the Minnesota second and the banger with hands for Iginla.  All in all, three prospects and a second for Iginla.  Steep.  That's what no fit would do to you.  There are other options.

Ok, I posted the same thoughts several months ago.  A shorten schedule makes more teams think of making the playoffs.  So if one thinks a big trade, I am inclined to be negative.  Igninla would be mighty fine but that asking price is a disaster for a team like the Bs.  Book may have the answer but too many teams are close to playoff berths with 48 games. The only incentive really is the Cap next year so if one wants to think trade then think who does the buyouts, who needs to shed salary, and lastly the asking price.  My thinking is Iginla does not fit.  Alfredsson is a dream.  Fehr is a player to grab! But again I will let PC figure out if Florida is selling or Washington is selling?

For the record, Ovechkin has been ridiculed in recent comparisons to Crosby but he must be maddened to have coaches come and go with no real sense of team direction.  The Canadian press is blowing his play as selfish, my goodness Crosby is a pain in the azz yet a media darling.  Look at the top news for NHL.com, Letang injured is the key headline.  Krecji is side news!

I agree Shupe but that's still probably not enough. 

 

For the price the Bruins do not Iggy. Since I live in Calgary he is not worth the bucks because he has the Flames in his heart and could not give the Bruins what they need for the Bucks. The B's should go for what they need in the price range they can afford and if not go with what they have.

If Ernesto's post is accurate, you could offer the 30th overall pick (you know, because with Iginla, they win it all) and Caron til you're blue.  You could sweeten it with Knight and any forward prospect the Bruins have and you'd get no farther.  Top 4 D prospect.

Not a sho...  Not going to happen.

Both of their goalies are well on the wrong side of 30 (edit: and suck), perhaps to the delight of many, they'd take a bite on Subban, Knight, and a 2nd?

I think calgary is window shopping.  they see pitt with all those d prospects.  If thats their sticking pt throw krug in the deal.  LA is able to offer bernier.  Then calgary could deal kipper as well   

Well, maybe that's the point of the ask, shupe.  They're trying to entice the Penguins.  Or maybe that's what they feel they need.  Maybe, if no one else is willing to meet their price, they'd be willing to take Krug, Caron and a 1, but that's the best I see the Bruins offering, and I'd be hugely surprised if it turned out to be enough.

Trading a first rounder + other parts is extremely stupid for a guy at age 35.  The B's are not paying for past production and his future will be limited at his age.  A second rounder makes way more sense.  

Iginla is simply not the same as Rick Nash, who is 28, for example (who did go for a first + other players).  I still can't believe the Bruins did not get a pick for the Joe Thornton trade...boggles my mind as to how stupid that was at the time.
