Is it possible to replace Savard?

Savard's unique skills included a clear view of the ice and where to pass to the open man. That may not be easy to replicate. Some of the potentials are Mike Fisher and David Backes. Toronto is not pushing to move Fisher, but a deal that would also include Phillips might be done. Going the other way could be Wheeler and Stuart plus a draft pick [ Bruins 1st or 2nd] Backes from St.Louis could be garnered with Ryder [ said he smiling and licking his lips] or Wheeler [ more likely] and a draft pick. Hamill may be a "showcase" since he did not make any mistakes, played well positionally, and made some very good set-ups. The B's do have Arneil, Colborne, Sauve, Caron plus others in the pipe that might figure in if necessary, plus a number of draft picks.

The short answer is no, Savard cannot fully be replaced. But this team has done fine without him most of the season (I can't even count most of the games he did play because it wasn't the same Savvy.)

Our goaltending and defense are solid to make a run at the Cup this year. The only forwards I can see being moved or upgraded are Savard, Ryder, Wheeler and/or Paille. We have plenty of picks and prospects to make moves... it's just a matter of management getting it done.
