    Is Wheeler the real deal?

In an interesting commentary, Matt Kalman discusses Blake Wheeler, Included is an assessment by Claude that Wheeler has done everything expected of him, but has been limited offensively, and the same for Ryder, by not having an elite center, meaning Savard. This really shows that Julien does not have confidence in Zach Hamill, who has played reasonably well and without any major errors. Once again Claude fails to develop or support a rookie. Wheeler had trouble scoring last year. This year he has played with Kreji, Bergeron, Savard, Seguin and still has trouble scoring. WHY does Claude blame the centers?? Perhaps wheeler should be on the 4th line where he did excel, and where Claude, if he ever took his head out of his ---, might perceive that a line of Wheeler/Campbell/ and Paille would combine outstanding speed with Campbell's smarts. Let's it for Claude.

There's a big interest for Wheeler.  Expect him to be dealt in the coming weeks.

I hope so, he was nonexistent against Montreal in a playoff atmosphere, imagine what he will do in the PLAYOFFS, NOTHING. No impact at all. Trade him or package him for someone who will make an impact, every night.

Not saying it COULDNT happen (Wheeler getting traded), he's certainly one of our chips, but...saying "expect him to be traded" is premature e-Speculation, isn't it?

Re: Is Wheeler the real deal?

he's not an "impact" player, the last ditch effort should be to try him at center he seemed to play well there early on but he's just not an effective player on the wing, he has good skills size and skating ability but cant seem to put it all together. all in all he's very replaceable

Wheelers limited offensive aboilities are due to the fact hes becoming more of a checker, on the pk etc and hes a huge threat when there a man down and he and krecji play together on the pk.As most players on this team CJ never lets a line stay together long enuf to gel.

Fails to support or develop a young guy?  Hamill has played less than 10 NHL games.  do you want him to have first line time?

As for Wheeler, I think he is a prime example of Claude Julien's inability to be a great coach.  Click on the following link and see his linemates from this season.  His most consistent linemates have been Bergeron and Recchi, and that's less than 20% of the time.  How can you expect anyone to get know their linemates and develop proper chemistry when you have a revolving door at center and on the other wing?

This ,team can't afford to let young players that aren't producing when every point
is so critical to where you finish in the standings, and your overall consistency.

Take a look at Seg's as well, hard to untrack as a rook.

Yup, CJ is a great defensive coach but he chokes off any offensive creativity. Marchand the exception.  I agree nonetheless.  The only contradiction to that thought is Lemaire in NJ right now, Kovalchuk.

Wheeler might become what we all thought he'd be under a different coach. Claudes defensive system is stifling of B'S offensive threats. Think Seguin is doomed under CJ.

He's terrible.  Get rid of him.

What's the common denominator in all those line combinations he's had this year?  Himself.  Everyone else seems to be finding the net okay - and they've been shuffled around just as much as "Wheels" has.

It's ridiculous and misguided to blame the coach.  This is his third full season playing with many different line-mates.  Some people can't seem to face up to the fact that he's just not as good as they think/hope he is.

The day he is traded is the day this team is instantly improved.

They changed it to reflect the truth:  Seguin scored that goal.

Re: Is Wheeler the real deal?

"4th line grinder" Brad Marchand didn't take long to find "chemistry" with Recchi and Bergeron... what took Wheeler so long and why didn't he stick?  Apparently, it's not Recchi and Bergeron that were the problem with that line.
