Not surprising...oft injured and overpaid for what he brings.

i beg to differ JMW, if the shabs do move him he'll be missed....

this is probably being done to start clearing cap space for Subban's mammoth deal....

just hoping Subban is free come July 1st and someone tenders him an offer....

I think with Emelin playing the defensive D man role and with Tinordi and Belleau in the pipeline Gorges as become expendable. his injury issues don't help his cause either.

Bergevin has some tough choices but I do find it interesting the Habs were mentioned as being interested in Garrison. Perhaps he is trying to formulate a Plan B should Subban be unsignable

Just realized the Leafs retained $630K of Gunnarsons salary. Interesting, maybe there is a trade brewing in TO.

In another reality, I might be tempted to suggest the Bruins make a minimum offer to Gleason and Volchenkov.  Both could be the Hal Gill type old shot-blocker big body #6 D.

No room in the Inn for the Bruins unless it's to replace Boychuk or Seidenberg if PC moves them to make cap space.

    Are you not entertained?!?!

True if PC does move a contract or two he will have options. Volchenkov wouldn't have to play big minutes.

PC will have too go over the Cap and be put in the position to dump Kelly and a draft pick to make Cap space.  That is not the PC of the past three years.

As per Aaron Ward, Bruins are one of 5-6 teams interested in Vrbata. Back up plan for Iginla I guess.

Does arbitration still exist in today's NHL?  I ask, because the B's tendered offers to all of their RFA's.  With the cap constraints, one would think that PC is low balling these guys.  What if Krug thinks he deserves more, does he still have the right to file for arbitration?

I think he means if PC just offered a qualifying contract. So Krug would only be offered a 10-15%raise on his base NHL salary of $925K. That is actually less money per season then the bonus laden contract he signed 2 years ago.

I could see him not being too happy with that

In Subban's case, the Habs offered him a real 2 year bridge contract worth substantially more than his EL.

No arbitration does not exist anymore. A player can hold out if he wants, Bobby Ryan in Anaheim would be an example. Krug will get a bridge contract and like it. His payday will come you can count on that.

If I were Caron I would hold out

I was under the impression that qualifying offers are not final - they are just needed to retain player rights and give the player the option for arbitration.  The GM and player can still agree on a different contract after the player is qualified.

They can be should the team not want to negotiate another contract...obviously not preferable to players.
