where are all these teams getting all this money from?  I thought the Bruins had a pretty cap friendly salary, but that just ain't so, I thought everyone else would be in nearly the same boat...

Notice the teams doing the signing and where hey are capwise:

You're right jm. Oilers, Florida, Dallas, the Sens, NYR and Vancouver all have double digit cap space. Edmonton is at the low end of that group with $12 million right up to the Panthers with $22 million.

I'm not seeing this anywhere. Did ST actually sign with Florida??
If so, this is the equivalent of the hockey gods telling NAS they hate him.

Gionta got 3 years at an average of 4.25 from Buffalo. Loved the guy, but not at that money.

Minnesota does indeed sign Vanek. Terms not yet disclosed, outside of the fact that it's a 3 year deal.

With this kind of money being thrown around and given the money left with the teams who have cap space, the Bruins will never sign Iginla.

Vanek's deal is 3 years, 19.5M. It was a 7yrs / 50M deal that he turned down from NYI during the season. Oops.

And the other guy in that trade, Matt Moulson, agrees to return to Buffalo; 5 yrs x 5M.
