Wow.  Markov is injured again, right?  Still.  Desperate.  I don't see how this helps them.

Kaberle must have one heck of an agent.

if kaberle improves your d-corp, you have serious issues on d. the habs would have 3 wins this year w/o price. he is their defense.

I'de like to think it's a mistake as when Spacek was in the lineup for the Habs he played very well and had a winning record.
I think he blocked like 10 shots the game the Bruins list at hom in October to the Habs.
They're looking for PP  help and this is why they took on Kaberle.  Who knows ?

Let's see, nine points over 29 games projects to 25 points over the course of a season. Yep, that's worth $4.25 million per season.

He's not a **bad player, just wildly overcompensated.

Remember when Montreal was good enough to push an eventual Stanley Cup champion to overtime in Game 7? What? That was as recently as last April?

Seems like a lot longer ago than that. I really am baffled by the direction that the Canadiens are moving in. It appears to me that GM Pierre Gauthier is simply throwing things at the wall to see what sticks in an attempt to save his job.

See you guys in 4-5 seasons. Maybe by that time the Canadiens will have recovered from the mess they're making for themselves.

I think it was more than just a small operation Markov went through the other day and I also think they will announce sometime he's done for the season.
I liked (dis-liked as Bs fan) Spacek, solid D-man . Sure he does not put up the points anymore as he used to but he was solid in his own end.
Gauthier is to blame for that 3year deal he gave Markov and I think he'lll pay with his job.

Sucks for Price as the direction they're going will kill several years of his career. Then again, maybe he can stand on his head like he did last year and save this season. Wouldn't bet on it but feel for the guy.

A competitive and good Montreal team makes the season and playoffs so much more exciting.

you can have exciting...i'll take the habs in last place every year. if this did happen, i'd have to move. the st lawrence river would overflow it's banks with hab-tears. that's quite ok with me, i'll move if that's what it takes.

$4.25 M a year, wow. I can't believe Rutherford found a taker for that albatross of a contract. Sooooooo glad to hear it's the Habs. The Canadiens eat monkey p o o. I hope their team bus and all of their fans go off a cliff, but not before McQuaid, Thornton and Chara beat the sheet out of a few of them.

Spacek's contract is up at the end of the year and the Habs have Kaberle for 3 years. Rutherford come out smelling like a rose after crapping the bed by signing Kaberle ( and for that much money ) in the first place.

And this from the fan590 at noon ( not exact dialogue but close ).

Kypreos : Kaberle gave the Bruins some good minutes during the playoffs.

MacLean : ( with tongue in cheek ) Ya he single-handedly kept the Canucks in the series at times.

Kaberle was half-decent as 3rd pairing PP specialist for the Bruins. Not at all worth his contract and his play has been terrible this season. I can't believe the habs would take him on!

I remember Al Morganti reporting Harry Sinden was doing hand stands on top of the Gaaden trying to get rid of Kevin Stevens after the Bruins received Rick Tocchet.
Jim Rutherford must be doing back flips and gurly cart wheels all over Raleigh right now.

Montreal now has re-signed Markov, whom will never play a full season again, who now has arthritis in his knees, traded for a washed up $7Mil a year Gomez and another overpaid player who refuses to shoot during the one thing he is paid too do, produce during the PP.
