Key Turning Point - Bruins Becomming a Champion

In my opinion, the 3 KEYS to the Bruins turn-around, in no particular Order:

    1. TRADING JUMBO JOE THORNTON  - Freed up Cap Space to Sign Big Z and bringing a winning attitude to the team.

    2. SIGNING PETER CHIARELLI - The Architect of this team and management.

    3. Signing Tim Thomas - The Bruins gave him a chance, and Boy did he repay them!

    agree with all except #1....

B'S could've kept no ordinary Joe and still have money to sign Z-man....

remember PC also signed Savvy as a primary order of business knowing the B'S lacked a #1 center....  not so sure he would've traded Joe....

not to blame him for his injuries because those could happen to anyone, but what exactly did Savvy's leadership bring?....

the winning attitude came from hiring the right people at the top who in turn brought in the right people behind the bench and on the ice....

B'S should've included JT as part of the solution instead of making him look as the problem....

Days-of-Orr, Jumbo Joe's fate in Boston was sealed well before the trade, IMO.  The team saddled him with the captaincy way before he was mature enough mentally or physically.  His failures as captain were cemented in place, and the only options were to trade him or strip him of the captaincy.  The only problem is who would have been able to take it over at that time?  Nobody.  The team needed an identity shift, and did what they had to do.  It was a bold step, but it ultimately paid off years later.
