Hid development seems kind of stagnant on the Island. He's struggled this year, and didn't have a good year last year either. I wonder at what point the islanders start taking offers a little more seriously, and what it would take to get him. not saying the bruins should or would go after him, but he could certainly be an interesting player at the deadline for a lot of teams.

This 24 year old player had a career high 24 goals last season.  That's not a good year?

He is signed through 2016 at $2.8M/yr.

Why would they ever want to trade him?

his point totals have been trending down the last two years. with the islanders it's always about moving assets at the right time. he hasn't been developing the way they wanted. 

Hes affordable.  Could he be had?  Sure, if you wanna try and buy low and then told something you dont wanna here.  Cap friendly young talent.  

They're paying him less than the Bruins pay Chris Kelly.  He could sell frozen bananas in the concourse all game and they still wouldn't think of moving him.  You'd have a better argument if he was playing well and the Isles thought they could address a major need that would "ensure" them a playoffs spot - a solid #2 D or something like that.

3rd year:  injured, 5 goals

4th year:  24 goals

$2.8M/yr until 2016

With the Islanders, it's always about the cheapest way is the best way.  There is no chance they move this player without an amazing haul going the other way.
