Make Two Trades To Improve The Team

Okay, you are Stanley (you know, the GM).  You can make two trades.  No more than two.  Regardless of length of contract or production, you can swap two current Bruins for two other players.  The purpose of this exercise is to bring to light how little is out there when contracts are the starting point.

    The rules:

    1.  Must be even money within $500K, but term doesn't matter.  (Caron for Stampkos won't cut it.)

    2.  No ELCs.  (Campbell for Barkov won't work.)

    3.  No harassing others for their moves.  No "oh my God you're retaaaaded there's no way that would happen."

    4.  You may include round picks if the money is right but the other guy is just that much better.

    5.  Must be within 5 years in age.  (Seidenberg for Fowler...no go.)

    6.  Cannot use Chris Kelly.  LOL

UPDATE:  In two days, we'll break open the commenting on the deals and vote for the best/most viable!

    Okay?  Here's mine:

    1.  Krejci and three first round picks for John Tavares

    2.  Seidenberg and a first for Emelin.

Johnny Boychuck and Malcolm Subban for David Perron and the right to swap 1st round picks in 2015.

That's it, though I would probably try to move Kelly, too, lol.

Right.  Okay.  Let me clarify that.

One player traded for one player.

    A maximum of two trades.

I'm not sure I can agree to condition #3 in good conscience, but I'll give it a shot.

Re: Make Two Trades To Improve The Team

Okay, first move: Adam McQuaid for Cody McLeod.  The B's get about $500k in relief and some kind of a presence on the 4th line that will fight but is a little more hockey player than goon.  Who doesn't want an angry red-headed Irishman on the 4th line anyway?  The Avs get a sorely needed, solid D-man, and don't really miss McLeod with Bordeleau there and Winchester coming in.

Second move: David Krejci for Patrick Sharp.  Boston gets a speedy stud winger to play on the second line while Soderberg gets his shot at center alongside Sharp, and Spooner gets worked in for center duties behind him.  Unlike Krejci who needs to be re-signed, Sharp is signed for 3 years, and any extra $ can be earmarked for other positions.  Chicago gets a great 2nd line center to play with Hossa, and unloads one of the veterans guys they won't be able to afford after the big two contracts and upcoming free-agent-pending deals for Saad, Smith, Shaw, Leddy, and others.

Seidenberg, Fraser or Koko and a pick for Okposo

Given the parameters (which really makes the exercise noteworthy and proves the point of how difficult it is to improve the current roster), I have a hard time coming up with another trade that can pass muster (not that my only proposal was anything but laughable in the first place).

I predict you could make all sorts of dumb trade suggestions is you're allowed to just say "and x first/second/third round picks!"

Would be a very short thread if the player you wanted to trade or acquire was Subban.  Money won't work unless it's Crosby or Malkin!

The options are surprisingly limited with the $500K value and five year window taken into account.
