Market Capped for Kaberle at 4.5 million

With Bieksa and Pitkanen both re-signing for that exact amount, Kaberle should know he won't be getting more. It's now solely a matter of how much less and if the Bruins will offer it.

    EDIT: Bieksa was 4.6

Kaberle, Ehrhoff, any other probables? Chiarelli may opt for a safe move, and then seek a trade.

with those two gone, Kaberle might be more in demand now....

i don't see him taking less than 4 mil. per for 4-5 yrs....

and he may just get it, but hopefully not from the B'S....

MAYBE 3, MAYBE, but I think his true colors showed through with the Bruins this year.  He didnt adjust well AT ALL.  Sure, he contributed down the stretch and was solid, but played diminished minutes and showed that he IS NOT the powerplay specialist they made him out to be.  Bruins got fleeced me thinks because Kaberle was NOT a piece of the proverbial puzzle.  A role player he was not.  In a way I hope he doesnt sign here at all, but then again maybe they can re-sign him and fleece someone else in a trade.

Carolina's signing will cure the ailment known as Pitkanenitis on this board. I was starting to believe it was contagious. All the talk of the Bruins needing to go out and sign him was making me feel ill. Thank you Jim Rutherford. I feel much better now.

I don't mind Kaberle walking at this point. PC made the play to acquire a player who would help the team go deep in the playoffs. We can argue contribution but it doesn't get deeper than a cup.

And the price paid can't be deemed too high either, in my eyes anyhow.

I'd rather pay a bit more for a UFA like Wiz and let Kabs explore the market.

the market is gonna be crazy.  i may pick Barker off waivers.
in fact I may add a few small pieces and move on.  We won't be in on Richards.
    White and Cole.

Smart thinking on White or the Wiz, Cole is another very good player who is injury prone.

I like the old adage " What have you done for me lately"  when discussing Kaberle.. I would argue with anyone that he had an outstanding Cup Final and was a valueable piece of the Bruins D in beating the Canucks.. Sometimes players need more time to adapt to a new team.. I would like to see Tomas in a full season with the Bruins before I judge him hastily.. Looking at the two recent signings today Kaberle stock just went up and the Bruins unfortunately won't go that high with him.. He will sign for about $5mil per with a team with cap room.
I still think he ends up with Detroit on July 1st..

Chowdha, all we need now is for someone to sign the Wiz so I can stop reading about how awsome that loser is. What he's accomplished to garner this kind of love is beyond me.

An Islanders' 4th round pick for less than three days negotiating rights?  No wonder Vancouver took the offer.

Re: Market Capped for Kaberle at 4.5 million

My 2 cents: At $4.5-$5 million, I say get Ehrhoff or the Wiz instead of Kaberle. Both are good offensive guys who offer an absolute BOMB from the point. Kaberle is decent (and I mean decent), but he's not what this team needs, we've got playmakers, we need a guy with a shot.

The price for Ehrhoff or Wiz is high, so I say no more than 4 years for Ehrhoff and 2 years for Wiz. I think these terms fairly reflect the offensive d-man market and what the B's can afford to pay with the fact that you're playing for the Champs factored in.

    Everyone wins.

Smart move by Snow if he can get any kind of goaltending the Isles have got something to look forward too. They will be fun to watch with some offense from the back end.

They should be fun to watch win or lose, but if they can get some D, they should do a lot of winning. They're young though. Eastern conference Oilers?

No way i would pay him 4.5 a year for 3 no way I would give kempfler a shot at that last spot or wait to the middle of the season to plug that spot i would like to see them have payroll flexiablity not to over spend on anyone that extra cap space will come in handy during mid season or @ the trading deadline.

He has an absolute rocket from the point and when he played the PP with Subban, whenever either of them had the puck, the Bruins were forced to respect the bomb. I also thought he played well defensively, was fairly gritty, and I think he can be moved down the line if we need to do that.
