Sturm? Really? 2 MCL tears two years in a row two a guy whos only asset was speed and you would rather have him than Ryder? Ryder is playing great hockey lately! I know we all like Sturm and all , but this isnt a popularity contest. Its about putting the players on the ice that give us the best chance to win every night. It a crappy situation with Sturm, but he just doesnt fit on this team anymore. Paying a guy 3+ mill per with two torn up knees is NOT a good idea.

Until the Bruins get their cap in order the lines won't change much. We don't know who goes or stays and their are many combinations of personnel who could be traded or put in the minors. PC will do what is best for the team and put the best team on the ice he can to win. The sooner the team is healthy the sooner the team can be put together with the best players possible. To put lines together now is pure speculation. -

Yes. And what is wrong with that? It's part of the fun of being a fan. -

Start with, when Savvy is ready, Ryder is gone cap space. When Sturm is ready, Paille is gone cap space. This then leaves Lucic/Kreji/Horton; Wheeler/Savard/Seguin;Sturm/Bergeron/Caron;Marchand/Campbell/Recchi with Thornton sitting or alternating withRecchi. Still need to make some changes on D. Hunwick,Ference, Stuart, who knows what Peter can do. Also consider that Wheeler seems to play better at center so he jumps up as trade bait. -

I'm not debating your lineup because it's a good one but your comment about Wheeler I don't understand . Krejci isn't a top playmaker ? Wheeler has played with him quite a bit in the past . And what's Thornton doing in your lineup considering you have stated in the past your dislike for him as an NHL player ? Isn't that type of player ( fighter ) going the way of the Dodo bird ? Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you used those words . From your previous posts I'd figure that Thornton would be an obvious omission from your team . Have you changed your opinion on him ? -

My thoughts exactly...Sturm should be a non factor.
As for clearing cap space.....can we gid rid of the "Human pylon", the "Cough up king", the most over-rated defenceman in the league, the "Big Z"...Z for zero effort?
Take it easy fellow posters, I have been a Bruins fan for a long time but I have lost all faith in Chara and it started last spring in Philly!! 7 million for this guy is NUTS!!!! I know its not going to happen but I would love to see him get moved out of Boston along with the huge salary. Does he also have a no trade clause?? Seems like PC hands them out to everybody.... -

Savy is the #1 Center. For a time, maybe Krejci keeps it, but Savy will be moved back there once he's up to speed. I really like Krejci. He has developed so far past where I thought he would, but he isn't up there yet with Savard. Hopefully he will, but he does seem injury prone - 3 times in the last 12 months.Horton Savard RyderLucic Krejci WheelerSeguin Bergeron Recchi4th line. -

Don't know why people would break up Lucic and Horton
Lucic - Krejic - Horton
Wheeler - Savard - Seguin
Sturm - Bergeron - Recchi
Marchand - Campbell - Thorton
if we get rid of Wheeler
Lucic - Krejic - Horton
Sturm - Savard - Seguin
Caron - Bergeron - Recchi
Marchand - Campbell - Thorton
Agree with NAS - Campbell is vital to the lineup -

This. I like Bergeron with Recchi. Sturm has played well with Bergeron in the past as well. Putting Savard between Wheeler and Seguin has a ring of "Prove it, Savvy," to me, which I like.
Personally I'd keep Ryder over Sturm if at all possible. And I think Caron gets demoted and Paille stays. The sound byte will be, "We thought he would benefit more from getting the playing time down there rather than watching from the box up here. It won't be long before we see him again, I'm sure." -

I think you spread out Horton and Lucic on separate lines, and as much as I hate the thug mentality, having Lucic to protect Savard and Seguin seems like a good idea.
Savard doesn't need to be the #1 in my opinion. The important thing with him is that he is always out on the first PP line. On the powerplay is where Savard's true value is at this point in his career. -

Savard's definately most effective on the PP when there is more open ice.For awhile I would prefer to see him get 3rd line ice time until he feels he's got his legs back. -

I'd agree closely to what Jalvis has written as his lines, but I will write them as though the individual players are operating at optimal strength because I think Savard will not start where he ultimately ends up at the end of the year.
Lucic Savard Horton
Seguin Krejci Wheeler
Sturm Bergeron Recchi
Marchand Campbell Thornton
A few points:
1. I want Krejci on the 2nd line because I think that he is not a pure enough offensive player to take the brunt of 1st line attention as Savard historically does. Krejci has not overwhelmingly impressed so far in the 1st line pivot role.
2. Ryder should be the one traded. Everyone deep down in their hearts, no matter how good he is playing, knows this. He is doing what I had hoped he would do, boost his trade value. Because once the fear of trade is gone from Ryder, he is going to slide back to old form. I do not want to see that again.
3. Caron, as much as I like him, is the least risk move in sending him to Prov. Also, Paille is a good asset for a contending team like Vancouver looking for specialist depth.
4. We desperately need a D-man who can move the puck quickly and crisply from the D-zone. The B's may never truly get that person this year, but god, they need it.
5. Ultimately, I do not think that Claude is the one to get this team to the Cup. I like the Defensive minded system, but they have two top goalies. What if the B's played a more up tempo game like Laviolette's in Philly? I would like to think that guys like Krejci, Seguin, and Wheeler would produce more than they do now. And they are giving up way too many shots because the forwards have to hang back too long. I don't know if that is an answer but it is something I have been thinking about for a bit. What does everyone else think? -

1 Lucic - Krecji - Horton
Don't break up a good thing
2 Sturm - Savard - Seguin
Second line scoring and growth for Tyler
3 Wheeler - Bergeron - Recchi
Good third line
4 Marchand - Campbell - Thornton
Fourth line grit
Trade Paille and Ryder for picks and pucks
Caron as the extra forward, he seems to be leveling off to me. -
