In Response to Re: no One Stuck Up For Chara:
"Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser"- Vince Lombardi "Show me a gracious loser and I'll show you a failure"- Knute Rockne I am fine with Chara's reaction, I would just like to see more of it during the game.
Posted by Crowls2424
Hey, I love Lombardi quotes, but this one works just as well with "show me a poor loser and I'll show you a loser".  Same trick.  And it's just as logical because bad losers - the guys who whine about the refs or try to beat opponents up for no real reason other than they feel bad about having lost - fear losing more than they love winning.  So they become risk averse, unfocused, and selfish.

When does anyone on the Bruins ever stick up for someone else (unless Ference starts it) ?

That was one of the times I wished the Bruins played with an edge that the Flyers play with... Not saying the dirty part. I want to see these Bruins hit everything that moves and make some people angry. That's how they have been successful.

Agreed!

Have zero problem with what Chara did, in fact I'd like to see a few more "sore losers".  I'd just like to see them get a little more "sore' when the game is actually being played.

Double agreed. I dont know why but thats the 2nd time this year Chara has waited till after the game to lose his cool. IMO when the B's start to get outshot on a pace of 23-8 in a period either Chara/Thornton/Campbell/Lucic needs to get in a fight and get the team back into the game. Give them a breather and get the team focused. Isnt that what fighting is for?

Re: no One Stuck Up For Chara

This team is about as far from 'The Big Bad Bruins' as they've ever been.
The 'Big Bad Bruins' of the 70's - and, God! I hate that term, overused for every convenient reason - were big and bad because everyone could do everything, score, hit, skate, pass, block shots and yes, stick up for teammates (there was no 'why')

This Bruins team is a team too-stuffed with specialists and role players, guys drafted and developed for only one or two purposes, over-assigned, over-directed, over-coached. There is little versatility up and down the roster. Patrice Bergeron strikes me as the only Bruin player able to do almost everything.

Of course, this is not a problem that afflicts only the Bruins, it is part of the overall stunting of the NHL game, I like to call ; the footballization of hockey and Claude Julien is one of the best practitioners of it.

Meanwhile, Chiarelli could help by identifying, not only the best player available in the Draft, but also by identifying the best all-round player, Chiarelli could also help by digging a little deeper, by pushing his NHL scouts a little harder to, for instance, find more than just the enigmatic one-dimensional, occasionally-inspired, shoot-first sniper Nathan Horton to replace the enigmatic, one-dimensional, occasionally-inspired shoot-first sniper Phil Kessel so that a spark might be created for Marc Savard to do what he should be able to do with anyone.

Forget the 'Big Bad Bruins', gimme the 'Nimble Versatile Bruins'.

Matt..
Love how i have a different opinion and its a question of whether or not i have ever played a sport.. good call...

It will have no affect on chara's play.. He will go out tonight and be the same player he always is...

This is typical of chara before anyone tries to give me anymore crap, play offs last year?  Buffal game this year, montreal game this year..

how about seeing some of that during the game, as opposed to after a loss...

Re: no One Stuck Up For Chara

At first I was glad Chara responded, then I thought about it...and Zdeno should have just walked away. If anything it was a love tap to get out of the way and frankly, the Habs were celebrating in glee, not trying to embarrass Zdeno at that moment. There are times you respond to cheapy moves by opponents, but that was one that needed to just be let go. The team choked and showed no composure on the ice, including all the defensemen and the goalie. I am of the way Gerry Cheevers used to handle things after a loss...get the hell off the ice as soon as possible. Just leave the ice fast and get to the lockerrom. Game over.

I have to say that Chara has been a far cry from the one who won the Norris a few years ago. He just isn't the same guy. I don't know if he lacks confidence, is losing his skills, or what. But he is not imposing and is not intimidating to opponents anymore. Don't know how Chara will solve his blah-zay play.

Dez,
your better at digging up the past quotes, I don't know how to find the thread that I put in after the thing with miller went down..
But I went on to say I hoped this would unite the team (savard got involved etc).. Chara went off, I was in your shoes,

Next game we played (montreal I think) showed up and fell behind 3-0 early.. thats all i am saying...

Re: no One Stuck Up For Chara

this is the closest i can find (prior to the montreal game after the buffalo game)

MY prediction for tonight, I am hoping the bruins use last nights game, the end of last nights game as a point to come together, they start to even things out on their own, and decide to establish an identity that "they are going to be tough to play against" like we used to hear...

Lost to montreal 4-3 after falling being 3-0 in the first..
