Who should be the next ref inducted into the HHOF? I'd say Fraser.

    Best refs discussion.

My favorite ref of all time is Andy Van Hellemond.
My least favorite ref was Paul Stewart.

I think you read my post Red.  This will work for me.

You can also change the headline within the thread.

Wally Harris plain bad in my eyes. Actually I like to think the best were the ones I never knew their names.

Van Hellemond, who I thought was great, got in during his first year of elligibility, which is very rare for a ref.

I think Asseletine should get in, based on this hit alone. I know it was a bad call that led to it, but that was a crusher of a hit.

    Refs in the Hall

I don't think refs should be in the HOF.  If a guy is so bad at his job that he doesn't deserve to get in, he should be replaced.

Builders?  Fine.  They went above and beyond to help the sport.

Coaches?  Certainly.  Some are much better than others.

Chicks?  No way.  Just like they have their own rules, they should have their own Hall.

Refs?  Giving people honors for doing what should be a black and white well makes no sense.

When did they change the name from the Hockey Hall of Fame to the Men's Hockey Hall of Fame? I missed that memo.

In "Men's hockey" more commonly referred to as "hockey", checking is a big part of the game, encouraged, and important.

In "Women's hockey" more commonly referred to as "women's hockey", checking is a penalty.

    Different game, different Hall.

NAS I think the IIHF has to change their rules. I play in a full contact league - because of that the IIHF does not recognnize my league. Most of the great female players, Granato, Wickenheiser, Campbell etc., agree with me. Don't blame the players for idiot refs and league management. We want the same rules. The IIHF is not giving us the respect we deserve.

To make that point more clearly, I own a jersey that I wore in an IIHF sponsored game from three seasons ago. The logo acorss the front read " Let the Women Hit"'. My problem with the women's game is the same as yours.

I honestly do not believe the story about the jersey.

I have many problems with women's hockey.

It should not be an Olympic sport because not enough countries have competitive teams.

If women are going to have their own teams, they should stop putting girls on youth teams full of boys.

The only Granato that ever mattered in hockey is Tony.

Pro hockey players don't wear cages or full shields unless injured.

Cages and/or full shields would taking care of the skating clowns tho, it would make them irrelevant.  Or rahte rmore irrelevant than they already are.
