Penguins announcers at it again..

I'm watching Pens v Jets and Letang just boarded Burmistrov pretty obviously, yet Bob Errey wastes no time leaping to his defense and spews some cockamany garbage about Burmistrov "putting himself in that situation" and "was already losing his footing". Did anyone else see it? Am I way off, was there some truth to what Errey said? I just think they are laughable at how they always absolve any Penguin player of blame. -

They are definitely near the top of the list for reasons to use the mute button. It's to be expected. -

I cannot listen to that tool. He's an idiot. For those of you who hate Jack Edwards, try listening to a Pen's broadcast with Errey and Steigerwald the absurd. Just one. You will suddenly find a new level of appreciation for Jack and Brick. -

I've never seen this much crying and complaining from a broadcast team in all my life. Hahahahahahahahahahahah !!!! -

They are just awful. Worst homers in the league. Even with Jack, he never sounds as whiney as the Pittsburgh guys. Homer or not, nobody wants to here continuous whining from the broadcast booth (are you listening Glen Healey?) -

I had the gamecenter package two seasons ago and i think i watched feeds for about 20 different teams. Holy hell are some of them bad. Jack Edwards is over the top but at least he a: knows hockey and b: talks about hockey players on one of the teams on the ice.

Local guys. It's probably in their contracts that they will not publicly say or do anything to criticize the Penguin players or organization, because the team probably wrote the contract. I've come to see the local broadcast teams as hockey's version of the old wrestling manager - the guy who will pull and trick or stunt to help his guy win. They aren't journos and they aren't there to teach anyone anything about the game. They speak to the pink hats, the casual fans who needed a comet graphic to follow the puck, the kids who can't stay up past the first period. Assuming they think they'll add any value to my experience of the game is only setting myself up for disappointment.
National broadcasts, though...then this garbage really irks me. Bob Cole on CBC openly cheering for the Leafs and the Shabs - even against other Canadian teams. Hughson sounding every bit the homer on the national Cup Finals broadcast. That's not acceptable. In that situation, no single team pays your freight.
Centre Ice etc. blurs these lines by giving you national access to local broadcasts, but I don't think we'll ever see local guys held to the standard you'd hope the National guys would be. -

I also watched the Leafs and Avs , those guys on Sportsnet (also LeafsTV). Horrible ! eh RHO ?
They are all the same , Clement and Comcast on the Flyers. It's as if Philly is the cleanest team and don't understand why they get penalties.
I won't even start with the Tampa and Buffalo guys.. jeez.
As for Jack he sometimes sounds like a turncoat and that's what gets the Bruin fan base mad. I find he's okay. -

I will . Bobby Taylor drives me nuts. Another crybaby homer. And Rick Degenerate used to do Niagara Falls Flyers games on the radio before Buffalo ( which I hated ). His voice sometimes makes me think there is someone goosing him from behind the way it goes up and down. -

Don't even get me started on the xenophobic "sewagebags" on the CBC. I love them less than i Love Wideman.

I didn't mean to suggest that there aren't excellent local guys. Brick's not bad. I just don't see there being a real push to have Bob McKenzie type analysis in the booth at the local level, where the National level sometimes reaches for real content adn not the pompoms. -

Cooke also totally crashed the goalie on the first pens goal. They had no explanation. On the replay:
"Ah, yeah there's number 24 ,ah..."
with the philles, flyers and pens, what's there to like? -

Yeah, you have to expect local bias and I don't have a problem with that. But what you get from the Pittsburgh guys is this non-stop whining and complaining about the officials and opposing players that is irksome no matter who you're rooting for. That constant victim mentality just sounds like a spoiled kid that is leaving and taking the ball with him because nobody told him the oak tree was out of bounds. It's just annoying to listen to. But, I guess someone in Pittsburgh must like them though...sigh...
Glen Healey and Bob Cole are a disgrace in any market. I think we can all agree on that. -

I like "top shelf, where Daddy keeps the Zig-Zags". One of the original announcers on The Score pulled that out 1 night. I couldn't tell you if/where the guy's working now. -

I like listening to Red Wing games and I like Micky Redmond as a color guy... except his incessant complaining about penalty calls. Not calls vs the Wings, pretty much ALL penalty calls. Can't stand the way calls are made now, "in the old days," blahblahblahwhine. Oh his continuous harping about penalties makes me reach for the remote. Plus he's generally wrong about every Interference call. -

I always thought it was "top shelf where daddy hides the pornos"...
I just saw the hit and listened. I dont think I could imagine Jack+Brick being that obnoxious about that hit. Just saying "ooops he slipped, it wasn't bad" is pretty f*cking stupid.
