Penguins playing hangman on whiteboard at practice

heard it on 98.5 this a.m.

    The hangman word is "comeback"

Wrong mental attitude if you ask me.

i guess there are worse motivational tools but this is odd for sure. I think the Bruins will see a poised Penguins team tonight who give the B's all they can handle. I see Pittsburgh putting it all out there to make the series 2-1 heading into Friday so I'd love to see the Bruins score first.

I think it's important to realize what's at stake, but you can't get too down on yourself. Different teams try different things for motivation. Boston went on a field trip in Lake Placid after going down 0-2 heading into Montreal. Every team bonds differently.

I think it's just wrong.  'Comeback' isn't relevant yet, tonight's game is what's relevant.  True, it might be the beginning of a comeback, but it's looking too far forward.  It seems like confused thinking to me.

I don't think 98.5 has a good grasp on their hockey knowledge... They said they didn't think that we had a big goaltending advantage over the Penguins...

True, and I recall they've gotten some basic hockey facts wrong, but I would trust them for mere factual reports like this one.

    Toucher and Rich do.

    Adam Jones does.

The football guys (Gresh and Zo) do not.  The baseball guys (Felger and Mazz) know some.

I was listening yesterday and I think it was Felger and Mazz that were questioning if all the rinks were the same size in the NHL and they weren't sure, but they thought all rinks were regulation size.

To me, that should be something they should know cold.

You are right.  At least Felger really likes hockey and the Bruins.  Many times I don't like listening to them since they can be very negative about Boston teams.

This is actually very embarassing commentary for sports talk radio.

Consider the source, Chowda.  I may have been a caller with that question.

A few minutes ago Felger was talking about defenseman, Letang specifically and offense is what gets you a Norris and said that "I *think* subban is a Norris candidate", another fact that should be tattooed on your forehead if you're doing hockey talk on the radio.

    Right Chowda, embarassing.

Oh God, Felger just said Redden was a minor league player for a couple of years.  Sound familiar?

Redden was a minor league player for a couple of years.

Well, yes, but more for the reason of hiding his cap hit than his play.

They were saying it in the context that he was really awful.

Felger was saying it was a mistake to have played Redden in the playoffs at all, they should have put in Krug from the get go.

True, he was bad, but it wasn't like he was in the minors when the Bruins picked him up at the deadline.

And they were suggesting that he wasn't playing well in the playoffs for the Bruins.

He wasn't.  His play just didn't match his cap hit.
