No to Dustin Penner. Too soft and too inconsistent. Horton is inconsistent enough for this team. We don't need another one.

No to Marty Reasoner. I don't care if he has 21 points & is a +7. He isn't a difference maker. I wouldn't trade a bag of pucks for him.

Jason Arnott is a center that the Bruins should look at. He would be a great fit. he is a veteran who still produces. He has been through the wars in the playoffs.

Agree with you 100%--- but I think Rolston could also help-- he can also play the point on the Bruins anemic power play.

[QUOTE] I sometimes wonder who posts here ! If you're Boston fans I'm ashamed in allot of you since you aim so low.  This team is incomplete. We need bonifide star players that will make an immediate impact for the Bruins if we're to have any chance to win a cup this year. Don't beleive me? Watch the next 2 games vs Red Wings and then ask yourselves where the team we saw vs Montreal disappeared to.

You should wait till these 2 games with the Redwings are played, before you make a statement like that?

[QUOTE] Absolutely not-- you usually make sense--- but not on this one.  I can't believe how most Bruins fans over value Penner and Hemsky-- and under value Krejci/Bergeron/Lucic. Lets brings players that are used to losing-- from a losing culture and they will be what puts this team over the top-- and at the same time trade one of our better players to get one of these guys--- ridiculous! The only way I would even consider Penner-- would be for our 1st round pick-- not Toronto's

I didn't say I would endorse the deal.   I said that is what I believed it would take to get it done.

I don't think with the way the Oilers are losing money they are going to want to take on a lot of contracts. I could see some prospects and draft picks getting the deal done.

I don't think there is any way the B's make a move this bold.

    Also

Edmonton gave up three picks for Penner.  They have their future star in Hall.  It's my guess that they don't move him at all.  If they do, I'd be surprised if it was anything but talent out and talent in.

Let's talk about it again if he does get moved.

I absolutely agree with you on Penner. Edmonton gave up a lot for him. Don't think they'll give up on him. He has put up good numbers on crappy teams. I do think Hemsky will be moved, don't know where. I'm with you though. Not much for trade speculation.

Bruins are in a position to grab an elite player. Marty Reasoner is a 4th liner that couldn't crack this lineup.

I'm sure I've said this before, but I agree with jyaso - what is the fascination with Edmonton?  That team hasn't been good since Penner got there.

Playing Kreskin, I predict the answer is "yeah, but they're rebuilding so they'll want to unload veteran contracts for picks and prospects".  Which is a bit like saying "Hey, I just won a million bucks!  I'd like to buy a Ferarri, but the used car lot near my house has a lot of Kia's under a sign that says "everything must go!"

    Penner is a stud?

His team has finished last or second last since he got there! And he's going make the Bruins Cup Contenders? And you want to give away players and picks for this saviour?

    Keep dreaming in technicolor!

Offensively speaking... Seguin is gonna provide as much as Reasoner or more, and um, Glencross? Can't we get PJ Axelsson back? Seriously Glencross has little to reccomend him.

    Re: Penner to Boston

    Nash,

Boston would like a lot of the Oiler players.

Penner is a perfect fit as he plays all roles.  I am not saying he is gonna be a savior and this team doesnt need one.  He is a 1st line winger who can play PP, PK and regular shift on the 1st line.  he would instantly become our best winger.  I will hear it from the Lucic crowd for sure but Penner has a better all around game.  And his down low game would cause fist for Pronger and all the top shut down dmen.  He has very soft hands for a big man and his speed is also good.

Its not about adding a franchise player.  Its about adding a piece to the puzzle.  Imagine Lucic/Krejci/Penner  How do you handle that line.

I would give our 1st rounder which is gonna be late and this draft isnt a good one.  Penner takes Ryders contract spot next year.

It helps us in a BIG WAY.

I would throw a 2nd rounder and Stuart at Edmonton.  Then would flip to a 1st and lower end prospect for Penner.

And what a stupid belief it is. You overvalue Penner . Maybe a 1st rounder but Lucic, Krejci or Bergeron ? Very stupid !!! Not-A-Clue.

Would much rather have Penners teammate Hemsky.  If anyone were to replace Savard it would be this guy.  Gifted playmaker, PP specialist but a winger, which in my opinion we need more than a C.  The only problem is injury risk, but man this guy would fill the holes we have, especially the PP and scoring touch.

When you have the 39th post in a thread, I think it's safe to say that the thought provoked interest and conversation, so why the bashing.  That is the point of these boards.  Talk about what's current and interesting.

Also not everyone has the time to find an original thread regarding Penner for example in order to keep things thoroughly organized.  Yes it, stinks when three out of the ten most recent threads are on the same topic but that's not the case here.  I guess I just don't understand your complaint because I have certainly enjoyed this thread, kudos to all those who have insight on guys like Penner whom I do not know much about.

Iam so sorry BBReigns for starting a thread that bothers you (I'm glad you stopped by to waste your time telling me so), but my thought in this post was to pass on some news out here in Western Canada, where PC is actually quoted in a Western Canada newspaper, as well as the GM of the Oilers about their postions in trade talks. That's all. Sorry if it offended you. That was not my intent.

Any trade with Edmonton involves JOE COLBORNE, an Alberta kid.

Do we deal Colborne + high pick = Penner ?

    I don't think so
