One of the many things that I hate about the salary cap is that it makes the simplest trade talk and fantasy musings completely unrealistic most of the time. You need to be a capologist ,even as a fan, just to have a semi-reasonable discussion about trades. The O.P. was not even close to making a realistic proposal here. Columbus has time and they can let their kid mature and get better-I don't think they could make good enough use of D.K. at this time. Davidson is no fool and neither is his GM. No way they would even contemplate this deal.

A quote taken from a "Hockey News" story I read this morning regarding the Blue Jackets options come the trade deadline.

The Blue Jackets are just fine the way they are. There is no need to rush a process that is beginning to really look as though it has long-term potential by trading the future for now. The Blue Jackets will likely be in a dogfight the rest of the season for a playoff spot and if they make it, they’ve already proved they can get on some kind of serious roll.

99 % of the posters in this thread understand this concept for the Jackets. The other 1 % ?

Yeah, the thing about the 'Jackets is that they're doing it without great play from their Vezina winning goaltender. His numbers aren't bad, but they wouldn't be 3rd in the Atlantic (playoff spot) and three points behind the Laffs with three games in hand if they were relying on goaltending.  They've got a pretty well-balanced attack now with 6 guys with at least 11 goals and Johansen pushing 20.  And that doesn't include Gaborik or Horton, who has come out swinging in Columbus.

He keeps that up, he's going to have to work into May, and the missus won't like that.

The D is better than it's ever been there, too - Wizniewski is finally delivering on that contract (at least, a bit), Ryan Murray is for real, Johnson hasn't been as good this year as he was last year, but he's no slouch, and Tyutin is solid.  Nikitin's an enigma, and...well, David Savard.  Working in the youth.

    So, HockeyNews 1, Stanley, 0

Blue Jacket fans should send a very nice thank you not too Sather!

@Fletch - I wouldn't even throw Chowda into the Boston Harbor.

He may be an enigma but he has the best name in hockey so that should count for something, and if Bobrovsky ever returns to his vezina form who knows, add in Nathan "OT" Horton and you have the formula for a 1st round upset.

Can't see Columbus falling for such a one sided deal -- We should throw in Lucuc, Rask and another 1st rounder and see if they will bite.....

For Ryan Johanssen  and Jack Johnson, of course key player for the Bruins is a future Super star Ryan. Johansen , 21,  6'3". 215 lbs , scored his 19th tonight ...Johnson just to match the salaries but could help getting rid of ST faster , this kid is the real deal and would fit perfectly with the Bruins

I think with Krejci, Boychuck, Caron, Subban and our 1st pick we could get the deal done Can you imagine Johanssen with. Iginla and Lucic ...wow

MR PC please get on the phone ...

trade Krejci, you are nuts, bad bad move
