Should be an interesting game.  After the trouncing last night, Washington is on it's last-legs for making it into the playoffs.  Loosing might not officially eliminate them, but it would be pretty darn close.  Will Washington suffer from incontinence again?

This is also the game where Boston finally catches up to Ottawa in games played.  No worse than 5 points ahead with 5 games to play.

By the way the Sens have been playing lately Doc, I do not think the B's have to fear Ottawa overtaking them for first in the division.

Washington is a fragile team , if Bruins jump on them early they'll crumble.

All the more reason for the Bruins to continue finding their game.

Blogs and the Globe and the game tonight all said the B's had to win (2 pts) to clinch, but my math tells me if all the 7 current teams in the playoff spots were ahead of the B's, with the B's in 8th the only team that could mathematically catch the B's was Washington.  Bs have 94 with the single point. Wash has 86, with 8 games left, meaning they could only finish with 94.

So, unless Wash would win the tie-breaker over the B's, the B's are in.

Anyone have an official stat on the tie-breaker??

First tie-breaker is ROW.  Right now, Bruins have a 1 game edge in that.  Washington would have to win all of it's remaining games via shootout to not win the tie-breaker with Boston.

You mean NOT win by shootout. If the Caps have one loss, or one shootout win, the Bruins clinch.

Should make the playoffs, but something has to change for them to prevail. Peverly should be with Kelly; Caron should be with Bergeron; Seguin with Kreji; Corvo on the bench; Ference is having some brain cramps lately; Seids is a big loss; The overall play in front of Timmy is sporadic at best, and, as noted in the shootout, Timmy is tired and a mite slower to respond. Claude's use of Peverly in the shootout was a definite brain cramp.

To tie in points, Boston has to loose all its remaining games, and Washington win theirs.  If a single one of Washington's wins is outside the shoot-out, they tie Boston in ROW as well.  The next tie breaker is points against eachother, and Washington wins that 6-3 this season.  Two non-shoot-out wins and they win the ROW tie-breaker.

If Pens beat Sabres in regulation tonight, B's clinch playoff spot.

    Re: Playoff Clincher

For now B's just need to collect one (1) little point to clinch playoff spot

    OR

Either Buffalo or Washington losing one (1) single point and B's are in !!!

So Clinch a spot , get the division title, then rest and prepare for war because B's will be a beautiful challenge for all other opponents !!!! And this year they don't have to face les Habitants !
