Apparently obama commented on the recent dominance of the Boston teams and how fortunate we are to have achieved such great success.  In true Liberal fashion he then redistributed their trophies to less fortunate franchises.

Sheesh, when I started this thread it was just because I wanted to know where I could waqtch the ceremony, and then it was to talk about John Kerry's hockey injuries which I thought were sort of funny/interesting. That sure as heck did not work out the way I planned

[QUOTE]Senator Kerry was at the ceremony. He was sporting two black eyes and a broken nose that he got this weekend. From playing hockey. The guy's 68. Hope I can still play at that age.  He wouldn't say how he did it in the game, but I've seen him play and he wears a full cage, so I'm guessing a fight.

I wonder if that coward petitioned Congress for more unwarranted Purple Hearts.

Traitor Jane Fonda would be proud.

People have the right to their own views on politics and religion.

Thomas is unhappy with the current government.  He's no different than anyone else who's company was invited to the White House.

For those people who have suddenly lost a lot of respect for him:  Give me a break.  You have less respect for someone who stands up for what he believes?

Seems like he's unhappy with government in general, not any particular administration. He went out of his way to say his problems are with both parties.

Anyway...there goes the forum for a couple days. Maybe it'll be safe to check back after the all-star break. Hopefully the political nutjobs will be gone and we can get back to hockey by then.

I am simply pleased that the Canadian contingent was welcome, after they burned the White House during the
Madison administration (War of 1812) and all.  It's only politics, after all.

    Lighten up, Francis!  Sheesh.

It was mainly Brits from Canada. We were still British subjects/citizens at the time and Canada was technically part of Britain (British North America). So both are right.

    Re: President Obama

The reason why the B's are being celebrated at the White House now, the timing is all about the champion teams visits coinciding with trips to play Washington DC based teams. That's why they are scheduled the way they are. Also it's just a ceremony honoring champions. It's the most non-political gesture the White House ever makes for anything. Embrace it, don't use it as a stand against government. Thomas became an individual and separated himself from the Team. It's called a team for a reason.
