Exelby isn't a good hockey player.  He was good enough for the Thrashers, not the Bruins.

More interesting is the stat line for Bobby Robins.  62 games, 277 PIM!  32 fights this year.

    That's nuts!

Fallstrom has played 2 now, too.  P-Bruins 18 points up on Albany and look like a lock for the playoffs with about three weeks to go.  8 points up for the Division too.  Playoff hockey in Providence?  Isn't there an ordinance or something about that?

How about some comments on who in Providence can provide help for the Bruins. Our access is limited to the news reports. Why Bartkowski instead of Krug ? Spooner is in Boston, but limited to filling in for Kreji by some strange rule, so why is he practicing in Toronto ? Seeing the games isa so much better than just reading reports. Is Svedberg as good as he appears? Or is the Providence coaching truly developing the players ?

Had another assist last night, he's been much better on the powerplay since missing 11 games with a concussion. His size and skating is the only other defenseman other than Krug I could see becoming an NHL defenseman.

"Playoff hockey in Providence?  Isn't there an ordinance or something about that?"

Tony or Vinny would take care of any ordinance's that disrupts money flow in Providence. See "Buddy Cianci" gotta do a movie on this guy LoL

Side note on Robins- breaks his nose a few weeks back from a headbutt (how else ?) and now he's wearing a cage with cotton swabs up his nose to stop the vitirol from leaking out. https://twitter.com/AHLBruins/status/310847416452653056/photo/1

    @AHLBruins

"After two Penguins try to take him on, Robins rips his helmet off and takes on Samuelsson. #warrior #bringit " With a broken nose....

I think the same thing that was said of Jimmy Foxx could be said of Robins. "He wasn't born he was trapped in the wilderness".

    Re: Providence

When Exelby was in Atl, Sav wasn't getting run by Cooke. Exe isn't the toughest but he plays hard and doesn't back down. He is tougher than Fer and Camp who do like to help out their buddies as well. He is far better than Hnidy as a defenceman, who got a cup here when he played 3 games 1 for Chara and 2 for McQuaid.

He is more likely to be a playoff callup than anyone left in Prov, very surprised, Bartk was ahead of him. Glad Bartk gets some more time, would like to see Krug tho before the playoffs where a loss or bad play, the cost is too high.

Sved  has put up a great season, leads league in wins with 30 W 7L 2SOL and has 3 shutouts. His absolute consistency even when Prov was struggling in the early season has brought Prov to the top as a contender.  It has even allowed PC the luxury to be able to shop him as a high end prospect or Khudo with him to fillin if Khudi is shipped or any injuries to the tenders.  At 23 he has proved to be a great pickup.

Nor was Exelby good enough to stick with a bad Leafs team.  That says a lot.

Robin even fights his own, McQuaid.  No kidding he has 32 fights LOL

Koko centered Tardif and MacKinnon, Providence's new #1 line, with Spooner up and Bourque out with a concussion. Not much to report on Khokhlachev last night had a shot and a tripping call that's it.

Fallstrom played with Sauve, Camper and a little bit with Hirsfield in two games. Assisted on Rico Sauve's goal last weekend, needs to make a mark cause he is on a PTO contract not a 3 year EL.

Thanks, but a few more comments would help. Who's Mink ? Are these mostly college guys. I guess I could check out the roster notes, but that's not always informative. Are there any solid wingers that might compare to Matthias/Clowe etc. ?

bogie - No, no Clowes or Matthiases.  Lots of college guys like Krug, Warsovsky, Florek, Fallstrom, Cross, Camper, Bartkowski, Trotman, Cohen, Miller.  But also a guys from the junior ranks - Cunningham, Sauve, Tardif, Hutchinson.  That's been a part of Chiarelli's plan to stock the minors; sign guys who will turn pro later and maybe be better players to sign at 21 than at 18.

Mink was a college guy at UVM and bounced around in the AHL with minor league success . The reason Chiarelli grabbed him is because he's like Tardif, bangs bodies, pot some goals and was in close proximity of Providence. Niether Tardif nor Mink are going to help the Big Bruins.

The problem is Julien whines to Chiarelli about players who aren't "defensively responsible", that he doesn't want them when he can have a mucker vet. CJ had no choice with Kessel, Hamill, Seguin and Hamilton becuase they were 1st rounders. Having a coach like Julien, who is defensive minded, you can hardly develope any offensive forwards drafted outside the 1st round becuase the coach wants grinders.

It's 2013 the Bruins have 1 forward drafted by the Bruins in the last 5 years outside the 1st round in their lineup  becuase of injury. Threee players in the lineup drafted by the former GMs (2003, 2004 and 2006) scouting department. If I'm Jacobs I start taking money out of the scouting department until they give some wingers outside the name of Caron a chance.

You don't know unless you play them and not just once.

Mink isn't a bad player.  He's been kicked around a bit, but for all of the games I've seen him play (and that's a lot), if he's still the same player, he's...useful.

    http://espn.go.com/boston/story/_/id/9096465/providence-bruins-brace-trade-deadline-possibilities

"The talent pool is deep and versatile in Providence. The P-Bruins already sent forward Jordan Caron to Boston this season, and the parent club also recently recalled forward Ryan Spooner and defenseman Matt Bartkowski. Others have proved their worth in Providence, including forwards Carter Camper and Craig Cunningham, defenseman David Warsofsky and Krug. Goaltender Niklas Svedberg has impressed this season, too.

It was important this season for the P-Bruins to develop players like Spooner and Krug in case the Bruins needed reinforcements. During his three games with Boston this season, Spooner has handled himself well. He's shown himself to be a good two-way player, and he's still learning which areas of the ice he needs to be better in, in order to excel. It's likely he'll be back in Providence to continue his development once the Bruins return from their current road trip early next week."

Hope they don't pick the PBruins apart too much but in the end it has to be done to improve  the Big Bruins.
