The biggest jokes outa all this calamity is the charging on Carcillo, really? That was a terrible call! He pulled up too avoid a boarding barely touching Prust who fell down from a feel. Then the linesmen charging  to get him to the box. And then Gallerger calling Stepan a faker?!?!? The player who got shot in the corner, laying there dead, gets up & scores a goal with not a bullet wound in him! The Habs have the game right where they want it again. I was loving it when the Rangers just turned there cheek & skated away. Isn,t this what Prust was looking for?

I remember this play.  I was out watching the game with a Habs friend and he was even blown away by how poor that was.  Carcillo did exactly what everyone talks about.  He pulls up and actually protects the Canadien.

And you know, I'm no doctor (although BHab plays one here), but if a guy gets hit and has xrays and the xrays are negative, I'm going to suggest that the hit didn't break anything.

If you have a "broken jaw", how can you yell and scream?  I had a broken toe a couple of years ago.  I limped around like a gunshot victim.

AP:  "Stepan had X-rays Thursday night that were negative, and he returned to the game. He was in pain after the game and on Friday morning.

Further tests after a visit to a specialist revealed the fracture."

My guess is that he went to the same doctor as Ryan Miller after Lucic bopped him.

Depends.  He might be back for game 5 if the series is tied.  If the Rangers are up 3-1, I could see them leaving him off of Bell Centre ice and bringing him back in game 6.  I don't think there's any shenanigans for the simple reason that, if I'm the Rangers, I would rather have Stepan on the ice than Prust off it.  And it happens all the time that initial x-rays are negative because a combination of swelling and non-displacement make the fracture harder to see.  Or they don't take the right angle.

I kinda like that prust did an eye for an eye.  You run our best player and im taking someone out as well.   Prust had a heck of a game for the habs.   For a guy with a broken jaw he sure looked ok the rest of the game and he ran his mouth pretty good. Bet hes back before long.

    An eye for an eye??

Are you being serious, or is this shupe being shupe?  You think Kreider "ran" Price, or was hauled down on a breakaway?

I don't think Prust's hit was that bad, but it certainly wasn't an eye for an eye stuff.  It was ugly, and uncalled for.  That's your Price/Hab crush talking there.  Applauding Prust...wow...

I thought 1-2 games.  The reason for the suspension has to be that it was so, so late, and took the opposing player out with an injury (eventually...).  I've seen worse hits though.
Yes i do.  And he ran over DT last game which wasnt called. He ran over Fleury as well.  Let me guess. gallagher means all his right and this guy doesnt.   So you think this highly skilled player turns in bambi?   I like that prust took it personal that he accidentally on purpose played eye for an eye.
Guy goes hard to the net to make a play and gets taken down, so be it.  Guy flops on the goalie at the end of the play and rolls around on him like my dog when he finds something dead and rotting?  Different story. Kreider's game is speed to the net.  He's going to take out goalies if defensemen take his feet out.

Gallagher is obviously not the biggest or dirtiest "goalie runner" (who said he was again?), but he falls on the goalie a lot.  Which is probably why he lead the league in goalie interference penalties (Kreider had none this year).  I know you can't find fault in anything Hab shupe, but this one is pretty obvious and backed up by the facts.  Take a harder look.

Of all of the "whining" and conspiracy talk that has happened here, I have seen nothing whinier or more hopelessly irrational, than the theory that Kreider flopped and injured Price on purpose, on a breakaway.

That's right, Kreider, a speed demon scorer, who's game is all about the breakaway, gets clear in a playoff game they are already winning 2-0 and decides to fall instead of shooting (brilliantly timed with Emelin ankle chop mind you) so he can crash into Price rather than score a goal??

No way Kreider intentionally tries to take out Price. I saw a still shot, think it was TSN, where Kreider down right before he makes contact with Price and he has his right skate positioned to stop himself with snow being kicked up. As he was sliding into Price, he made an attempt to stop. Add that to the fact that he was brought down by the actions of another player and all intent goes out the window.

FYI, NAS dislikes the Canadians as much as anyone on these boards.  His remarks are basically Prust did not intent to injure.  I disagree. NAS has repeatedly stated on these boards over the last year or so that the concussion rule has changed the game.  I tend to agree with his assessment.  The vicitm is not always a victim but an embellisher.  According the NHL, Prust did hit Stephan in .08 seconds afterward passing.  The rule states .06.  It was a very late hit and should have been a penalty.  The debate afterwards is now moot.  I do agree with Book that the intial xrays, cat scans etc.. would be compromised by the swelling. I don't think Stephan was embellishing.  Embellishing was Subban last night jumping with both feet after being hit in the kisser by a stick. He should be fined.

    Re: Prust gets two ........

I think that when you throw a high, hard hit like that you'd better be sure the guy has the puck or just got rid of it.  Not sure there is anything wrong with the hit if Stepan has the puck.  But it was so late, that you can't blame Stepan for not seeing it coming or bracing to absorb it.  It was dirty because it was so late.

I hate to lend credence to anything the Hab players are claiming in their continuous media trash talking, but I really do wonder if Stepan completed the jaw injury when he hammered Emelin later in the game.  It's hard to imagine that the trainer would miss a broken jaw or that Stepan would bounce back quite the way he did.  It is surprising that he would be yelling in that condition.  I wonder if the jaw was cracked or dis-aligned in some way after the Prust hit, but then Stepan worsened the injury on the Emelin hit.

Either way, as someone already pointed out (Book?), the notion that the Rangers would fake an injury so they could trade Stepan for Prust being out of the lineup is preposterous, and could only be floated by the Montreal/lone wolf conspiracy theorists.

Stepan is one of their best players.  If he's not playing, he's injured.

Want to see a check that isn't an intent to injure?  Watch anything thrown by #22 in a Bruins jersey.  Throwing a check and hurting a guy is the goal more often than not.  Line him up and BOOOOOM!  You never want any long term lingering effects, but injure for the time being?  Absolutely.

Yes, Prust tried to injure him, just like Boychuk tries to injure people.  It's hockey!

The conspiracy theories about this is amazing.  You might as well hand stitch your teepee in the East Mojave and watch for black helicopters!

Can you help me understand how someone's blind side is the middle of the chest?
The hit was ridiculously late, plus high.  Guys don't expect to get nailed after a play has been executed, and another is well underway.  Savard didn't expect that, and players don't/shouldn't.  Someones "blind side", can be "the middle of the eyes" if they're not expecting something(see suckerpunch).

I'm all for big hits, and  agree in many cases, the old "keep your head up" analogy is getting lost, but in this case, a suspension is obvious.

But, I think that to actually believe this ^, two things have to be happening:

    1. You refuse to watch the replay.

    2. You have such a bias for your team that you are prone to conspiracy theories that make no rational sense.

The Stepan thing is a little more hazy.  I don't have any doubt that he has a broken jaw, but I do wonder exactly when it happened and/or why he came back to play (seemingly unaffected) after the Prust hit.  I think it is possible that this injury was aggravated or worsened later in the game, maybe on the Emelin hit.  Either way, Prust's very late hit on Stepan was suspension worthy.

Applauding the injury of star players with illegal hits, in response to clean plays, is the worst kind of stone-aged thinking out there.  The same kind of thinking that would celebrate Shawn Thornton's attack on Orpik because of the Eriksson hit.  Eye for an eye...?  Screwy logic.
