If they do sign him long term the B's future looks great. I mean, from our goaltending, defense and forwards being young with some vets for leadership. Great job PC.

nrguy- im not sure i wanna throw 4 annually on a goalie. We see what happened a few yrs when goalies went to market. They were underpaid. A 4 yr -12 million offer isnt chump change. I dont believe he is worth 4 yr 16 million.

Now that the CBA is known, PC can negotiate with Cap perimeters. Rask is also in a better position financially to sign a Bs contract with the leverage of becoming a UFA next year. The Cap pressure will build with his contract then Horton though. Buyouts and such also mesh with those thoughts.
I agree with Sandog, your avatar is visually pleasing.

I feel he's going to be asking for 5 mil or so, especially if his stats remain real good. Actually, PC lost some leverage when they officially got rid of Thomas.

I'm thinking PC offers the same type of contract he gave Thomas after the 2009 season. Good point on the UFA compared to RFA, Rasks agent has some leverage for sure.

Rask is still RFA when his current deal expires but he will sign for around 5 per regardless.

The timing is bad if you are PC....Tuuka is at his best right now ..if I am PC I would have waited a little longer to bring that up...but $4mm for a 3 years contract would be good for both sides...

Here's a capGeek comparable list with Rask. This young, this talented and already making $3.5M . PC has his work cut out for him.

PC has proven to be a smart negotiator, and Rask is showing a solid effort every night. I'd go with 4-4.5 for 4 yrs. Khudobin will be gone, but Svedberg seems to be a solid # 2. This is also in line with Schneider.

wouldnt u be bitter red if u were a leafs fan? leafs fans have been on the wrong side of deal from jump street. toronto has pretty much traded boston tuukka rask ,seguin, kaberle, hamilton and knight and got back raycroft, kessel and colborne, biggs and john michael liles. ouch
and if tuukka settles for less than 5M a year ill be surprised wouldn't u?

I think I mislead you on the Rask status next year. Nonetheless looking at seobrian's list, it seems Rask will get Price money. 5.5 to 6 million.
