What a bunch of whiney; pestimist basta ds! I applaude PC for getting rid of a guy who obviously refuses to grow up. Everyone thought that Marchand was the problem child. He obviously got the message! Yes Seguin is 21, but the core leaders on this team are Bergeron- 27, DK-27, Lucic-25, Eriksson-28, Marchand- 25, Campbell-29, Paille- 29. That is just in our forwards. This is a pretty decent set of leaders that I'm more than happy with. Having talent means squat- See 2013 Pens for reference! It takes desire, heart & character & those that'll go beyond that makes champions! LOVE THIS LINEUP for the next 5 yrs!

what's done is done....  time to embrace what PC did....

like most Europeans, Eriksson will have no difficulty playing on the off wing, which i think he's already done with the Stars....  he's a very underrated player....

all i hope now is that PC puts that extra $$$$$ to good use on a top six forward....

Yeah, JM, I don't know where you're getting that Eriksson is a 3rd liner or that he's just "another defensive forward".  He's topped 27 goals three times in four seasons as a top 6 forward.  He's not Jere Lehtonen, but I remember the comparisons based on his all-around game.

I put him in his hypothetical natural position as lw Book. Lucic, March and him are really interchangeable. He can play the offwing (marchand never has in the NHL so I don't know about that) and would fit perfectly on the Bergeron line which would be awesome with him on it.!!! No problem.

Now about that open first line RW position......

shupe, has your account been hacked by Stanley?  Seguin is not Chelios.  He's not JR.  JR was 24Hr party people, but he was a fiend who played a reckless game with his body.  Chelios and Seguin are fire and ice in terms of commitment to compete.

And I'd say no, the debate isn't squashed.  I'm just not that interested in it any more.  Seguin now has a chance to do what Hall has had a chance to do for three years - be the top line guy for a team trying to get back to relevance.  I'd say the debate is now started in earnest.

So, they traded a kid who showed flashes of greatness once in a great while.  Big deal.

So, they traded a kid who was selected 2nd overall.  Big deal.

So, they traded a kid who 100% tanked when it mattered the most.  Awesome news.

See ya later, Tyler.  You were too much of a dapper dandy to be a Boston Bruin.  You never went into the corner first.  Despite your impressive strength (Chiarelli called it girth...gross), you failed to win puck battles often.  Your creativity is non-existant.  Marchand played with Thornton and Thornton got 10 goals.  You played with Peverley and Kelly and all three of you stunk.  You are not the offensive force we had hoped for when you arrivied.  While Bergeron, Peverley and Lucic were working on their faceoffs, you were out poking puck bunnies at BU.  Good luck in Dallas.  I hope it works out well for you.  It sure as hell didn't work out well for you here.

When Loui scores against Toronto, we'll still chat "Thank you Kessel", because that's about the best thing you left behind.

Pretty harsh criticism for a 21-year old.

    When Loui was 21, he put up this line: 69GP - 14G - 17A - 31PTS (.45PTS/GM)

Compare that to Tyler's .67 PTS/GM last year.

After what happened with the Canucks & Neely, I hate seeing teams trade away young talent too quickly (I think they did that again last year with Hodgson).

Agree this is a crappy trade just like the Thornton one although I do think Erickson is better than Sturm. If it leads to good free agent pickups like when Joe was traded then maybe it works out again. That would be great.

This is Scott Cullen's take, not TSN's. HNIC Radio's take is that even if Seguin gets 100pts for 3 straight seasons. The B's won this deal with Eriksson fitting in with the B's mold immediately & Morrow's, Smith & Fraser's upside being HUGE! Seguin apparently was spoken to 6x this past season alone about his partying. And practicing smelling like a brewery.

Me too Dez, just musing today. This trade is huge with ramifications that oculd span the next decade so it is worth a thorough debate as to its merits.

I don't mind trading Seguin in all honesty, as long as it results in a stronger team.

My only fear right now is that Bergeron is one big contract and hit away from being the next Savard on LTIR. Seguin was supposed to be the heir apparent at center. This is now no longer an option.

Knock on wood this never happens.

I was never for trading Seguin but I've always liked Eriksson so I'm not upset at all. Peverley was on everyone's list of players to go. People expected a mid round pick for him so I consider everyone we got as just payment for Seguin. Why do you keep bringing up Drouin? If the rumours were true, Florida was unwilling to move their pick for Seguin. It is what it is.

For the moment Shupe, I'm happier with what I know Loui can do over what I think Drouin is able to. Loui had an off year but my buddy told me weeks ago that much of it was attributed to Jagr consuming the offensive zone. All offense went through him or he sulked. That's a big reason they were willing to let Jagr go. My buddy tells me there might not be a player in the league who's a better bet to perform well than Loui. Having him with Bergeron and Marchand will form one of the best lines in the league. He also has only missed 3 games in the last 5 years. I'm sure PC liked the idea of a guy who's not at all prone to injury. What people won't like is that he hits less than Seguin.

Not me Red but you know that some fans expect every Bruin forward to hit like Neely. I love the way Erkkson plays. I've long thought that he'd be a great  pickup. I'm sad to see Tyler leave but I'm thrilled about getting Loui for the foreseeable future.
