Seguin for Loui Eriksson?

    Re: Seguin for Loui Eriksson?

I'm still in shock and don't know what to think.  I like Seguin, but the lack of professionality did weigh heavy in my mind.

There is one way this trade sounds a lot better to me, the deal went like this

Bruins traded Peverly to the Stars for Eriksson.

    Yah!  I love that deal!

Then they traded Seguin for 3 prospects Morrow, Smith and Fraser...  I'm so not happy about this deal, but one of these prospects might turn out to be a stud if I'm going to believe Red or the SanDog

Those of you who are bent about the deal, I ask you this:  Remember in the Stanley Cup playoffs when the B's lost to Chicago?  Do you think a couple of goals by this golden boy would have helped?

He choked so badly it's amazing.

See ya, kid.  Hope it all works out for you...elsewhere.

And then ask yourself: "is it a fair assumption tha Eriksson would have been the difference had he been in Seguin's place? And, would Peverley's replacement (whomever that would have been) put the B's over the top?"

So is our team better?   Will it be better once we sign rask?  Sure bc hes an important piece.  anyone agree that seguin was traded so we could sign rask?   I do.  Why? Bc 2 million doesnt buy a lot when you need a top 6 and a backup.  If someone can find me a top 6 and backup goalie i want names.

Shupey-baby, you are killing us with this Rask stuff.  You've probably posted it 100 times in the last 24 hours.

We understand, my friend.  You don't think signing Rask for the rumored money is a good idea.

My problem with the deal is that TS has proven he can score at this level.  He slumped this year and wasn't given a chance to make amends.  He really must have pissed PC off to have been shown the door.

Shupe, I think we are on the same page here for the most part...ultimately, what PC does with this alleged new found cap space will answer the questions we are all posing.

Im starting to get over the shock and actually feel a little better about this.

Louie is going to be great in Boston, I really thinks so.

Read a bit about the prospects on various sites, a couple looks very interesting.

Seguin was not going to play center under cj anytime soon and if so on the third line, Sell high!

He is going to have a great career but i am not sure he would get it here. He should be a no 1 center in Dallas. Good for him.

I also believe that you can put almost anyone with Bergeron and Marchand and they will have a career year.

If we can get a free agent great if not it will be fun to watch some of the young talent.

Dallas is going to have a very cool duo in Seguin and Benn, good for them in their brand new uniforms. Cool new exiting team to watch.

The off ice stuff must have been really bad.  To put it out publicly and then trade him, it must have been bad.

Second, it's pretty apparent that if he blossoms into a stud, it will be because of or in spite of this trade.

First it was the missed meeting and he got benched.

Then during the playoffs there was that "conversation" between Tyler and Shawn Thornton that changed his attitude around.

And I thought that was it, but obviously there's more to it than that.

Seguin proved that he should be able to score. Loui has truly proven it over the past 5 years. I like Seguin and expect him to do well but I can't stress enough how much we will all like Eriksson. The guy can really play a 200 foot game.

I am #4BobbyOrrGOAT!!! 1 and 2 soooo many issues with signing in.

I would never have traded Seguin, MacKinnon would have been accepted, but I would never have shopped him, no matter the shiite his antics were off ice, and please tell me you are all perfect that you never trashed a hotel in your youth-wow.

I would not be giving Rask 7M either.

    JoeT  217Gm 42G  66A  108Pt   -8

Seg   203      56    65     121   +53   his numbers match pretty good, he has lead the team in scoring, what he will become who knows.  He has a ring, he can be a play maker, but more important he shoots, my only negative on Joe's play. Seg is not a fighter nor a hitter, I can handle that. Seg is no Yzerman but he may be better than Joe when all is said and done.

If Soder pans out, Kelly's 3M would be gone and I would move some of our youth up looking for the next March, but Cj will not let that happen.

    GOAT!!!

Completely agree, great attitude, not an ounce of primadonna about him, just produces year after year.

One of the most underrated pplayers in the league.

Yes, because ST and his 4 minutes of playoff icetime is an expert on the subject......perhaps Chara threatening to eat him may have been more effective?

So am I but not because he was traded, but what was in the return.

I don't know, I guess I just see a 21 year old potenial 100 point guy (Seguin)and third liner (Rich) traded for a defensive specialist and a song. Yes, I know Eriksson is a legit top 6 guy but so was Seguin, but younger and with a higher ceiling.

At any rate......Horcoff? (trying to change subject)

How about the playoff leading scorers kicking in-in the finals

    Krej 5a 151.17mins,  25.2/g

    Hort 2A 114.20          19.03/g

    March 0A 128.26        21.38

    Jagr 3A  113.37         18.9/g

    Seg 4A  109.2           18.2/g

Perhaps these other golden boys playing -the top 2 lines and mins,  scoring would not have gone astray from them either.

That's the key word here, ceiling.  Loiue may have already reached his, and Seguin's just ramping it up.  PC is slowly losing me.

Loui had 3 straight seasons with 70+ points before the short season and he's only missed 3 games in the last 5 years.  There's little reason to believe he's already peaked. He might just as easily be a point per game player during the next 3 years.

I like Louie dez but not at the expense of a potential franchise player.  However PC clearly soured on him and I'm sure it is for good reason.  I just hope he didn't give up on him too soon.  Only time will tell.

Hang, I'm a big Seguin fan and I agree this is a gamble by PC but he did manage to also get some solid prospects in the deal too. Hey, I'm worried as hell about the prospect of Seguin going to the Hall of Fame when his career is done and having none of the 3 prospects pan out but I also worry about high cholesterol and only one of those things I can control. Bottom line is we should at least wait until the games start next season before we declare a winner on this trade. I still have faith that PC knows how to put a championship caliber team on the ice when all is said and done. Go Bruins!
