Shanahan on illegal hits that don't cause injury

"...the presence of an injury doesn’t make a legal hit illegal, however if it’s an illegal hit, a lack of an injury will exonerate [a player]. But the presence of an injury will get [the offending player] more games.”

Saw this in a Haggerty article, not sure if there is an error or not, but if not: goddamn ridiculous.

This is exactly what I find ridiculous :
an illegal hit, a lack of an injury will exonerate [a player].

Me too, shoulda bolded it, but seriously... I can't get my head around that statement. It's kinda surreal.

That doesn't make any sense at all.  So if the guy you cheap shot just happens to have a hard head, no suspension?

This kind of arbitrary, seat-of-his-pants judgements will be a topic for bargaining during the CBA.

Or if the organization is one of the more whiney ones like the Sabres or Canucks, they might promote a fake injury in order to make suspension more likely?
