    Signing Kaberle

Can we even consider signing kaberle. Or is it going to be impossible?

    Re: Signing Kaberle

With Ryder's 4mil and Recchi's 1.95 mil off the books next year, and possibly Savard still being out (another 4.007mil) we should have enough room to sign him so long as his asking price is at his current rate (4.25 mil) or lower. So, it is really up to Kaberle if he wants to stay or not.

$4.5M per for 4 years.  Slight raise with a year longer than you want, but that's what it'll take!  As Hutch says.......Do it.....Do....it!

If I am understanding how they are adding things up it correctly, it will be Ryder and Recchi out, then $6M to resign Marchand and Kaberle.  Any cap overage from this year should be cancelled out by an increase in the cap (several press releases from the League make it sound like the money situation is really good, so I expect an increase).  If whatever has to be done to have the bonus cushion next year gets done, that would add some space too.

Should be possible to resign him, even if he wants $5M a year.  More than that might be pushing it, unless Savard either retires or is clearly out for the whole season.

Next year we hopefully replace Ryder with a healthy Savard...what a HUGE upgrade.

IMO Chiarelli allready has interest from Kaberle, who ELECTED Boston as a trade destination. His agent is a true professional and will negotiate a satisfactory compensation package.

In Response to Re: Signing Kaberle:
the bruins have a boat load of cap room. You gain a mill from charas new contract, lose .250 from bergerons. clear recchi's, clear ryders, schaeffers, wheeler's, stuarts, hunwicks. It will be incredibly easy to re-sign everyone. keep in mind the cap will likely go up to around 61

Good point..also if Savard is done, god forbid, then the B's will be fine...

    Re: Signing Kaberle

The option for PC would be to trade Boychuk and Paille this summer as well then wait till late September n sign a couple of vets on the cheap for depth if he wants. TOs pick or Bartkowski or Cross make the team as the 7th Dman another option.

Peverly and Kelly's contracts helps immensely here. They've been with a the team for awhile and no there rolls come September. Seguin steps in for Ryders spot and Caron steps into Recchi's spot. Chiarelli still has aboyt 4Mil for trades.
