The big news in all this is that SJ is looking like they might be sellers....finally.

Any chance Marleau becomes available?  He's still doing it.

Has PC ever completed a trade for a highly priced star?

For PC...Horton is not star calibre. FLA just wanted to be rid of him before his NTC kicked in.

Would you give up Koko, Bartkowski and a first for Marleau?

(6.9M cap hit this year and next)

I thought it was already established that they were sellers.  I thought thats why they were looking to sell Clowe.

The packeage is good (at least for Bostont) but the extra $6.9 million for next year almost guarantees, in my perspective, that PC would not do this.

PC is not a risk taker and with the cap going down next season he is most likely to pick the least risky option. So it will likely be rentals, cheap scrubs, or nothing.

No one really knew which way they were going.

    This suggests the seller route...

I'd do it personally.  Always liked Marleau, and he doesnt looked washed up (judging by the box score, havent seen any SJ games this year).  Can throw Savard on LTIR next year, let Horton walk, and that covers the cap hit.

But I didnt ask if PC would do it...I asked if you would do it (because I respect your opinion).

For the package you described, yes I would. If he does not measure up by the middle of next year you can always try and move him at the deadline or simply not re-sign him.

Adding him to the team for this season's cup run would be terrific.

Perhaps this is why I am not the B's GM.....:)

Saw allot of Handzus in LA, never ever impressed me whatsoever. He'll fit in perfect with over-hyped Froloff. I see it as a decent depth move for Chicago during there run.

Just about everytime Marleau is interviewd he reiterates how much he loves the Northern California area, I don't see him ever waiving his NMC/NTC.

Didn't you always expect more from Handzus? Has the size, good skater and every now and then will show some flash. Him, Viktor Kozlov and Oleg Kvasha, always looked like they had the tools but didnt want to work.
