Stan, he actually finished his career with more PIMs than points. What a player he was. -

I think the most impressive stat is his +124 in 70-71.
Amazing.
It also reminds us just how good Larry Robinson was with his +123 in the mid 70's(?).

I think Larry Robisnson was a fantastic defenseman, but he should NEVER be mentioned in the same breath as Bobby! Seriously?? -

It is a travesty that the NHL does not give the greatest player ever, #4, the same honor that was bestowed upon Gretzky...that being retiring his number across the NHL.
Happy Birthday Bobby, we've never seen anyone like you on the ice and probably never will again.

I know it was talked about around the same time they did it for 99, but they won't do it because of Jean Beliveau. Gretzky's the only great to ever wear 99, that's not the case with 4. -

A D-man will never win the scoring title once let alone twice!
Today there is no d-men in the top ten in scoring.
Orr and Espo are the reason there are loads of Bruin fans in Canada./

That's a great point red, I guess that is why #9 wasn't retired either, for Gordie and all the other greats like Hull and Bucyk etc. etc.On the other hand, if you can't recognize your other legends and the true great players in history why set a precedent by giving the honor to Gretzky??
Recognize them in the HOF and leave it at that.

All hail! The greatest to ever lace em up. What a joy to watch. Played the game as a true Bruin too. Tough as nails and the team came first. Best at both ends unlike the G man who many think was the best. Bobbyis all class. All the best and I only wish we could have seen you play longer oh great one.

#4 won the scoring championship in his last full season at the age of 27.... he played a total of 36 games over three seasons thereafter.... sad....
the greatest ever bar none....
can't wait to read his autobio....
