    This just in....

Everyone can exhale now as Zach Hamill has cleared waivers according to Bob Mackenzie. How sad is that ? 29 other GM's thought there was no benefit in picking up a former top 10 draft pick who is in his early 20's.

I guess it's safe to say that we will not be seeing him in the spoked B again.
Get used to the spoked P for the rest of the season and then its off to Europe.  We should be reading about him in Sunday Hockey Notes in the coming years.

    Re: This just in....

That was quick so this means we still have more cap space for remaining season. His Hamil avg. gm cost is $16,000.00 with aprox. 31 gms. left means
(not sure)$496,000.00 will be added to cap space.

If so why don't the bruins make a safe trade for Mr. Utlity D. Moore - PK speed and ability to score goals will be good sub player for players who should be a healthy scratch and some rest for certain 3rd and 4th line players. At the moment we have Pev. playing Horton's position. until further notice with Horton's uncertainty. Moore filling in the 3rd or 4th holes will be extra depth and security. With 20 days left to deadline the bruins mngt. will know Horton's progress and where the d stands, and go from there.

I was just thinking about this the other day:

You can name like 40 guys in that draft that would've been a better pick than Hamill...

Maybe not 40, but I just counted 29 other players drafted after Hamill that would've had more of an impact...

Most notably, Logan Couture and Jamie Benn...

But hind sight is 20/20 obviously...

And there's a lot of teams who passed on Lucic, Marchand, Bergeron and Krejci in the draft that regret it. You win some you lose some, it works both ways.

Sean Avery cleared waivers. Clearing waivers doesn't mean jack.

He's an rfa next year - can they let him walk or no?

My understanding is that if the Bruins decide not to make a qualifying offer to ZH, then he automatically becomes a UFA.

That's because Sean Avery, like Hamill, is not a good hockey player.  Not to mention he is overpaid.

Sean Avery has played multiple seasons and has a large salarly. Clearly he proved his worth somewhere along the way. Players don't usually get handed a salary without some sort of merit.

Very true.  Like when Scott Gomez scored a goal a year ago.  Back then he was worth $7.8 mil per goal.  Lots of bad contracts have been given out.  Brett Hull was a very bad GM and gave Avery a very bad contract.

It happens, but he was a "proven" NHL player that brings something of worth to the table. He's an agitator and he's very good at that. Not saying he's worth the contract.

You can be a good NHL player, and still carry the "not worth the money" label.  Brian Campbell, for example, is a decent d-man, but is not, under any stretch of the imagination, worthy of a $7.14m cap hit.

Sean Avery is a much better player than Zach Hamill. I'm suprised Columbus didnt take a flyer on Hamill, I mean, what do they have to lose?
