    Thomas Vanek

Too many thread dedicated to a useless goon...Great game by Vanek last night, nasty one-timer with an on edge puck. I wonder what type of numbers he would put up if he had more talent around him.Pretty well rounded player, not a one dimensional sniper, he makes some plays as well. Seems to do fine though over the years with what he has..He's a pure talent.

Last night's 5 point effort was the 2nd time he has done this so far this season . The other was a 2 goal, 3 assist game against the Flyers the 1st game of the year.

On the deflected goal he scored, just a subtle tip. He has goal scorer's instincts.

Effective when he is healthy but that is not often. His low hard shot reminds me of Neelys, Tim Kerr's and Hossas, hard to stop and accurate. Saw Buffalo's record without him in the lineup and it wasn't good.

He sure wishes he could play the Bruins every game ...up until yesterday he was something like 49 pts in 45 games against the B's...and that is usually against Bruins top D pairings which makes it more impressive...
