    Out of the day the Bruins took one on the chin to the Canes comes the pleasant news the Leafs are being blanked in Buffalo with just over 8 minutes left in the third 3-0.

    Phil Kessel just overskated a backpass on the Leaf PP allowing Kaleta to get the crucial third score.  The goal was only the fourth shot of the period by the Sabres.

    Well, here we sit with about 25% of the season done and the Leafs sitting 5th worst overall.

    <sarcasm mode is ON />
    Could lightning strike twice?!?!  Could PC get incredibly *LUCKY* again?!?!  NO ONE could have even imagined the Leafs wouldn't be a playoff team again this year.  And who could have ever foreseen a proven 40 goal scorer like Phil Kessel would be on track to match his career high of 36 again.  You would have to be Nostradamas to predict a proven 40 goal scorer who's career best was 36 WOULD NOT score 40 this season.
    <sarcasm mode is OFF />

    To bad the jerks I'm after won't be reading this.
    Even tho they won't be reading this, everyone else should know I wish them to go die and suffer in hell.

    Phil with another useless goal at the end of the game. It is amazing how many goals that guy gets when the game is out of hand or already decided. Lets hope Ottawa can add a lose to Toronto's record tomorrow and the Leafs will have their hands full on Tuesday against Tampa Bay.

    Yeah, that was just a vintage Phil Kessel goal -- game out of hand, totally meaningless.  That's when he piles up about 75% of his total points.  Anyone catch his turnover that led to one of the goals against?

    BadHab, Fletcher - I was just listening to THE FAN 590 moments ago and the host of the segment, Zack Cooper's topic was "What Would Make This Season A Success For The Leafs And For You, Their Fans?"

    Of course, you got the usual "make the playoffs" responses but most callers over the course of the 10 minutes allotted said for the Leafs to not give Boston another top ten pick.  No doubt, that potential reality is on the minds of many in Leaf Nation and rightly so.

    Kovalev is showing his sublime skills in setting up Fisher for the third Sens goal with under a minute left in the second period.  When he wants to, Kovalev has some serious offensive skills.

    Dawg, "Leaf Talk," their post-game phone in show is loaded with disgruntled fans tonight.  One guy must have been watching Milbury's spot on during the second intermission where he said the effects of the Kessel deal will be felt by the Leafs for years to come because this caller laid the blame squarely at PK's feet.

    He ranted about there must have been a reason the Bruins were so willing to give up a young 36 goal shooter whose on track for 40 goals but only 16 assists.  Others have said the return of Armstrong and Phaneuf will turn the club around.  Some are saying this week with games against TB, the Oilers and the B's next Saturday will determine Wilson's fate.

    lereve77 - Agreed, it doesn't look good.  For a lot of teams facing those clubs you listed, that could be a death valley.  Actually, they didn't play all that bad tonight against the Sens.  They had some jump and numerous chances especially Kessel who seemed to have the puck looking for him around the Ottawa goal but he couldn't finish.

    Armstrong and Phaneuf ? The Leafs might play a little better but Dionne's blasts going by the wayside on a nightly basis will be fun to watch. Burke giving up on Wilson would show panic to Toronto's ownership don't see it.

    Dawg, you nailed it.  I don't see Wilson going anywhere.  The team is better with Burke at the wheel and Wilson behind the bench.  All Leaf fans have to do is think back a few seasons when the largely inexperienced John Ferguson, Jr. was the GM although there was speculation that he couldn't make any moves without approval from consultant Cliff Fletcher and Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment coroportate suit Richard Peddie, to conclude whether their team is headed in the right direction.

    See, this city, the self-proclaimed center of the hockey universe, has long been guilty of over-estimating the talent of their team not to mention they are trying to be competitive after some years of non-playoff activity.  Media sources in town are quick to inflate the club as they did when they were 4-0.  There didn't seem to be any sense of "let's wait and see."  Burke's rebuilt their D-corps and its improved over what he inherited but for this town to be screaming for Burke and Wilson's hide is misguided.

    Yeah, they got off to a good start but folks up here seem to overlook their centers are Tyler Bozak, Mikhail Grabovski, John Mitchell and Tim Brent, hardly the group to match up well against the Bruins or Philly, for example.

    Kessel seems to be prepared to go one-on-five if he has to.  If Phaneuf and Armstrong make an impact on their return, so be it.  Should be an interesting year.

    Here is a quick guide on how to ruin your future stars .. God knows the Leafs have had lots of practise in the past.. I guess panic has set in and everyone is running for cover..  This is so unfair to the kid that nothing good can come of it... No way is this kid ready to accept this responsibility.

    Slumping Leafs promote Kadri to No. 1 centre spot

    Wonder how Bozak feels about this?.. Congrats your now our 3rd line centre and Versteeg , oh how the mighty have fallen.. 3rd line winger...which is what he really is mind you @ 3 mil per year LOL.....

    What a theatre of the absurd!! I can smell lottery pick already..Hey PC this is better than winning Power Ball!! Well, maybe not , but close!!

    who?  who?  who? could have predicted the leafs would be this bad?
    Wow, PC really got lucky in this one.  If he knew his picks were going to be this good he would have said so.  The headlines in the papers would read something like "PC says Burke is a total dope and the Leafs will finish at the bottom of the league."  Of course Burke would never do another deal with him again for the rest of eternity and he would have alienated tons of people and would have totally unprofessional to say that, but that's the only way we would know he would have gotten a valuable pick.
    <sarcasm mode off />

    You people that think PC "got lucky" are either in denial or are total idiots or just plain jerks.
