What does that actually mean?  How can they prevent him from phoning in instructions from the 9th floor or running practice via his iphone?

Wonder how the phone chat went with Hartley... Let's see when the next game he pulls the same stunt....bet it won't be for awhile.... I thought Torts would get more actually... He was in the wrong going into visitors area... It's a black eye on the league...

He thought he should be a side act to the real show. The NHL is tired of Arthur Fonzirelli's circus! I didn't think Tortorella would make it through his contract, he won't.

Why did Hartley do to get a fine, is this to make Gillis happy? He submitted his starting lineup and what happened after the opening face off is well.. how can the league prove he was responsible.

I'm with you on this one.  Where does it end ?  Julien likes to start the 4th line to start many periods and it's to create some energy.  If the other team matches his line with goons and they start to fight Julien gets fined ? Just doesn't seem right.  Julien does that move not to start a fight , it's to get his team going.

A precedent had already been set earlier in the year with former Sabre coach getting nailed for sending out a goon squad in similar situation against the Leafs and got nailed for $10k...Hartley got off lightly .. They deemed him responsible for lack of control of his line up...

Hartley also has a reputation for doing this type of crap in past... Those in the game are aware....heard today on call in show former tough guy Dingman that played under Hartley and a few stories he told about Hartley and his coaching style , lets just say were less than complimentary ...actually referring to Hartley as telling the tough players on his team to go out and hurt the star players  on the other team or lose your job.....I found it sickening actually....

    Re: Torts suspended 15 days

New York - Today, the NHL suspended John Tortorello for 15 days for actions in a game last week.  Torts, as he's known around the league because it's easier than typing his who name, put his goon squad out to start a game after noticing that rival coach Bob Hartley has penciled in his goon squad. When the puck dropped and the predictable fights started and finished (interesting note:  there were no other fights in the game), Torts yelled at Hartley repeatedly.

Between periods, Torts was seen headed to the Flames dressing room to give Hartley another earful when he was intercepted by Flames players.  "This cannot happen", said Gary Bettman.  "We can't have one coach attempting to yell at another after yelling at him on the ice.  It's not how we do things here."

Despite having the last change, Torts felt his only option was to start his goons as well.  No instrutcions were given to keep his guys from fighting.  "So let me get this straight," another executive said, "Hartley puts his goons out, Torts decides to put his goons out, the goons fight, Torts yels and then want to yell more?  Yeah, a 1/8th of the season suspension is warranted.  Think of the children."

    Re: Torts suspended 15 days

When asked for his reaction to the NHL's decision, Fonzarelli dropped 13 consecutive F-bombs, followed by "Aaay!"  Then, in a calmer mood, he said: "Look, I was wr-wr-wr-wr.  It was wr-wr-wr-wr-r."  This went on for several minutes before he was interrupted by Ralph Malph, apparently a 35 year old man, asking him about girls.
