How about a Steve Montador redux?

He's just been put on waivers...:)

Saw that, but don't see a huge upgrade between Johnson and Montador...especially given the numbers. Still room for another splash if PC wants. Methinks a flyer on McBain wouldn't be a bad addition if Boyle or Streit aren't available. McBain already in rumors, and now the Canes bring in MA Bergeron. Someone has to be odd man out. Why not take a shot at a younger guy to round out the last pairing?

Yeah, the only thing Montador was good for theefirst time around was as a punching bag and the B's already have one in Campbell.

The whole McBain thing is intruiging. He is young, on the upswing, and controllable (RFA). Why the Canes want to dump him is a real mystery. Unless, he has already told them he does not want to be there, like Jack Johnson did a few years back.

He would be nice to get...

I can't believe the Wings arent in on these defenseman deals so far.  They are desperately thin on D and have some cap room.

cam barker was put on waivers also, a big D man,,

So many teams have tried and failed to make use of him.

    He is finished...

Who could be a better teacher for him than CJ, the Master of Defense himself?

When Barker left chicago he was a good d man,  in 09 he put up 40 points in 68 games. Then in 2010 was traded to minnisota, after that he played about  80 games in the nhl.. i may be wrong but i think hes a Bs fit for depth.

Van decides to re-sign Higgins 4 years at $10 million ($2.5 per):

Interesting in that Higgins seems to have lost his early scoring touch...

Now that they've traded for Jagr, I think a trade for Clowe would be much better than it would if he was the big deal. Peverley centering Clowe and Horton would certainly be an upgrade. I say do it.

Tall order nowadays....plus I get the feeling that CJ would like some insurance so as not to have to rely on a 19 year old rookie down the stretch.

I guess they really, really do not want to start the playoffs with Kaberle....

I wonder why not jm? He was one of the leading point getting d-men in the 2011 playoffs? lol

I still remember the scared look on his face when he had to go in the corners to retrieve pucks game in, game out during the 2011 cup run.

He knew it was expected of him as a Bruin but you could tell it just wasn't his thing....lol.
