The name that is a surprise to me is Ben Youds.  Wasn't at rookie camp.  Was in the Chicago system last year.

Thanks BadHab. So how do the groupings work these first few days and weeks? Any inkling of line combos they are trying out, or is it purely a mix and match? I ask because there are pretty clear Marchand-Bergeron-Eriksson and Lucic-Krejci-Iginla groups, as well as the Merlot line....but guys I thought would be candidates for the 3rd line are all over the place.

Obviously way too early, but I wasn't sure if they mix in rookies with established players to see what they got, or if the lines pretty much get established early for chemistry's sake.

I would think its benificial forthe young guys to play with a mix of both vets and other young guys. Too early to have anyone penciled in anywhere.

    Re: Training camp roster

It'll be interesting to see what happens once they do line rushes, but for now, you want the rookies to get as much time with the veterans as possible while it doesn't really take time away from building chemistry for the real games.  It certainly looks like three of four lines are being kept together, though, with the candidates for third line duty spread across the groups.  Fluto's suggestion that the Bruins want something like Peverley-Kelly-Ryder for a mix is interesting if you interpret that as two-way player with speed, defensive specialist, offensive specialist.  And if Kelly's a lock, then you want a fast, responsible guy with some skill and a scorer who can play a bit of defense.  Reading anything into group A would maybe put Caron or Knight as the Peverley, Khokhlachev, Smith or Camper as the Ryder?  But I'll be very surprised if Yetiberg isn't on that line come October in the Peverley role.  Far more likely that Caron loses a spot to any of a half-dozen players.  The only thing I'll say for certain is that the options are more enticing this year than they were last year.

I find myself actively pulling for Cunningham to jump up and steal that spot.

Oh yeah - and check out the goalies.  Rask and Svedberg in the same group?  I guess that means Johnson is the official backup?

Saw where they're slotting Eriksson (with Bergeron , Marchand) and Iginla (Krejci , Lucic) , that was a no brainer . Even on paper you see the chemistry and skillsets they have in common with the other guys.  I like !

I'd really like to see Svedberg get a legit shot.

Soderberg seems like a lock. I thought he looked real good last year. I'm very excited to see who makes 3rd line RW. I hope it's someone with a little flash. Caron bores me, Smith might be exciting. Spooner has talent. A dream would be Grifith or Koko shocking everyone and making the transition to NHL scorer.

    ^Luedeke's perspective^

I predict Matt Fraser sneaks in to take the 3rd line spot.

If I understood Behind the B's correctly, several of the staff believe that Camara and Lindblad could crack the line up.

They seem high on Camara. I watched Behind the B on Monday. I was real fascinated when in the boardroom, PC call Horton's agent and the agent informed him he is leaving. Then watching Cam give his opinion on Seguin not very flattering. Watched the entire thing. I liked it. I agree with that theory they are high on their prospects time will tell.

I want to see one of them make it, any one of them.

Actually more than 1, because injuries will happen.
