A current TSN Poll regarding when the NHL season will start has fans claiming that there will be no season at all with 47% of the vote. Thoughts?  I believe for the sake of the fans the players need to break the owners back.  This because what the owners are asking for will ruin the game. Via reduced salary cap, strucktured contracting... Wake up owners!!! You never had iit so good. And now blind greed will ruin the game!!!

Interesting that the number is at 47% around the same percentage that the players are going to get no matter how many times they line up along a downtown Manhattan hotel ballroom wall.

Forget about for the sake of the fans, how about for the sake of the gameday workers who are the only ones getting totally hosed on this. We're fans. We'll survive. But there are folks out there who count on the NHL to help them pay their rent.

I think it's meaningless for a few reasons:

 

1. Most TSN users are naive Leafs fans.

2. None of the fans know because they aren't in the NHLPA, and they don't own an NHl franchise.

3. The voters a frustrated and upset so they're voting for the worst posssible outcome.

Live and die by the game.  There was a strike in '92, lockout in '94 and lockout in '04.  If you're going to work in a volitaile industry like that, you have to be prepared for the worst.  If you can't handle it, don't work in that industry.

The fans...the workers...it's important to realize this is just another work stoppage.  there are always peripheral casualties, but lumping them all into the equation just muddies the water.  clearly what we have here...is a business going gangbusters.  what's at issue isn't whether there is any money to be had, but merely how to divy it up.  The stewards of the business wanted cost certainty, and they got it.  now they want "profit certainty".  that's the reality.

 

Internet polls carry as much water as a spaghetti strainer.
