Sturm goes from the Los Angeles Kings to the Washington Capitals, Boynton goes from the Chicago Blackhawks to the Philadelphia Flyers, and Rivet, who was on re-entry waivers, goes from the Buffalo Sabres to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The 32-year-old Sturm has missed 45 games in time split between the Kings and Boston Bruins. He missed the first 32 games of the year with Boston with torn ACL and MCL injuries, then missed 13 more with another knee injury with Los Angeles. Through 17 games, he has four goals and five assists.

A veteran of 13 seasons, Sturm has 238 goals and 237 assists in 872 games. The native of Dingolfing, Germany and former first-round draft pick will also bring seven years of playoff experience to the Capitals.
