Wed. May 5, 2010- Scary similarities

Ok everyone....lest keep a level head; on May 5, 2010, we won game 3 against the flyer 4-1 and it looked like we were going to roll into a sweep.

In that game, Satan and Wheeler scored 91 seconds apart in the first period.

Not only did we lose Krejci; but we also lost McQuaid that game.

I agree.  We are in a better position than last year, we are deeper, stronger, and have a better offense (except for the PP).  Last year I was already planning on the next round.

Now, I will beleive it when I see it.

Nah, this is a completely different team.  We got Thomas in net, Horton, Krecji, Siedenburg, Kelly, and Peverley all contributing.  This team WILL hold on!

This is a better team then last year-- and the Flyers are not as good.  Now after all the bitchin and complaining in the past about the Versteeg trade a couple of years ago--- enough!

I hope they start Boucher in Game 4--- he is good for 2 softies every game.

I had to run an errand after the game. So I put the game on satellite to hear the post game show. Bob Beers said 1 of the biggest differences this year is that there will be no talk of who they're playing in the next round until they get that 4th win. He said he remembers being bothered by that last year. Even after it was 3-1 in the series they were still doing it.

A very important an often overlooked fact: focus on the current game or you won't get to play the next one.

Also disturbing was the look on the faces on the bench after Monday night's game. Yes, I know they were all tired, and I'd certainly expect them to be tired at that point in the game, but the look I saw was 'is it over yet', and in an OT situation, that's not the look that usually wins games. In fact, it'll make you lose more often than win. That look should be determined, focused, and to the point, and should stay that way throughout the game.

Wait. What happened last year? I was unaware. Thankfully guys like you and the crack team of specialists at Versus are there to remind me.

I hope someone thinks to mention it to the Bruins. I'd like to get their opinion on last year versus this year, and I'm not sure if it's been brought up yet.

Re: Wed. May 5, 2010- Scary similarities

Here's one important similarity.  "Analysts" on Versus repeatedly talk about last year's collapse because they want this series to continue and improve their ratings.  "Writers" like Dupont and Shaughnessy offer repeated dribble about the collapse because they're self-serving fools and they want to justify their flowery and narcissistic existences and improve their egos.

There are nine "similarities" between this year after Game Three and last year at the same juncture:  Bergeron, Recchi, Chara, Ference, Lucic (wounded), Paille, Thornton, Boychuk, and Ryder.

Thomas, Seidenberg, Krejci, and McQuaid were all injured in 2010 and are in terrific form in 2011 (with the exception of McQuaid, of course).
Peverley, Horton, Campbell, Marchand, Kelly, and Kaberle were either not on the roster or not regulars in 2010 and are in terrific form in 2011 (with the exception of Kaberle, perhaps).

With no Wheeler, Whitfield, Wideman, Begin, Sobotka, Satan, or a recovering Stuart for Game Four in 2011 in BOSTON - the "similarities" seem pretty slim.

    Enough already.
